EXPERIENCE HELPING FAMILIES NAVIGATE THE LEGAL MINEFIELD OF ESTATES, TRUSTS, PROBATE, AND ELDER LAW.

Chris is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California, helping clients navigate those complex areas of law.

In practice, Chris strives to help ease the burdens of aging for his clients and their families by taking a holistic approach to planning for life's challenges.  Whether there has been a death in the family, a health care crisis, or simply a need for experienced estate planning, clients will benefit from a thorough review of their particular situation and a plan customized to their needs and goals.

Proper planning means addressing more than the financial disposition of an estate: Who will make your health care decisions and what authorities should be given to them? What is the level of incapacity that will allow your Power of Attorney agent to step in for you? Are there any beneficiaries who might be receiving disability benefits when you die, and how can you provide for them while not forcing them to lose their public medical and financial benefits?

Administration of estates is another specialty of Chris' practice. Whether a court-supervised probate administration or a more simple trust administration, Chris has the the experience to guide executors and trustees as quickly and efficiently as the law allows.

When conflict arises, Chris is also experienced in helping to resolve matters, when possible, through the use of medation with an experienced retired judge or other attorney. Where such alternative dispute resolition is unsuccessful, Chris and his colleagues at The Alvarez Firm will protect the rights of their clients through the litigation process.

Outside of the office, Chris is blessed with a wonderful family that loves to spend time together exploring the beauty that southern California has to offer. Chris is also a classically-trained violinist and celtic fiddle player, with a particular soft spot for the music of Jay Ungar and Molly Mason. "The Lover's Waltz" was the first tune he played for his wife, Sara, and became the first dance at their wedding.

If you, a family member or friend needs help navigating the challenges of planning for possible incapacity and/or the distribution of an estate. don't hesitate to contact Chris with any question you may have.

Exceptional
Chris Young has been instrumental in walking us through the legal web of conservatorship. His knowledge and expertise has been incredibly valuable. He is passionate about the work that he does and truly wants to do the best he can for his clients. We have been involved in a contested conservatorship case involving financial and emotional abuse for the past eight months. We approached Chris based on a recommendation of a friend and never looked back. We hired Chris in August 2018 and have relied on him ever since. Chris is thoughtful in his approach to solving conflict and potential problems and takes the time to explain why he is recommending a particular approach. Communication with Chris is excellent. He is easy to approach, makes time for his clients and is willing to break down complex legalities into easier to understand concepts. Chris is also a good listener and respects the individual nuances of the needs of his clients. Chris has been incredibly responsive despite family issues, illness and time away from the office. He has gained our trust and we look forward to a continued relationship with him.

Exceptional Trust Attorney
I was referred to Chris by a friend to help me with the settlement of my father's estate. From day one, Chris was very communicative and understood my situation clearly. He quickly put things into gear and we went to court right away. Chris got a judgement in my favor and did a lot of work on my behalf. He is deeply knowledgeable in his field. I couldn't have selected anyone better and I highly recommend his services.

Excellent!
We hired Chris to handle my mother-in-law's probate after she died intestate. He made the process so simple for us - he handled everything and explained what was happening each step of the way. Whenever I emailed him with a question or concern, he would almost always respond the same day - sometimes within minutes! He and his assistant, Tiffany, were professional, courteous, and efficient. My husband and I were very happy with the service Chris provided, and would highly recommend him!

Excellent Outcome from an Excellent Attorney
I had interviewed several attorney's that were referred to me, and I selected Chris for his candor and thoughtfulness. Chris and his staff were always responsive to my inquiries and their resourcefulness led to a very positive outcome for estate settlement issue I was dealing with. Chris is an outstanding attorney and successfully defended my rights against a strongly adversarial counterparty.

Mr. Stephen Evans
Chris Young helped my wife and I during a very stressful, difficult time in 2021. Living in Ohio, we were very apprehensive about needing to find an attorney whom we did not know, nor could sit and discuss the trust fund issues when my parents passed away. This gentleman was kind, considerate, understanding, compassionate and exhibited extreme patience with us. During all these legal struggles, my wife received a cancer diagnosis and Chris Young showed even more compassion in understanding that this legal issue needed to be resolved immediately as to not cause my wife any further distress. We highly recommend Christopher Young as a man of great integrity.

An Excellent Attorney!
We recently had the opportunity to work with Chris Young and his team at The Alvarez Firm while representing the Estate on our latest Probate sale in Los Angeles. From the outset, Chris’ expertise and knowledge of Probate, Estate Planning, Elder Law, etc., was immediately apparent. Chris also stayed in contact and effectively communicated with us throughout the transaction. In light of Chris’ professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail, we would highly recommend him and his firm to anyone seeking an excellent Attorney in this area of the law and we hope to work with him again in the future!

Probate
Our family needed a probate attorney away from the areas where we all live. Chris was quick to step in and help in a difficult and volatile situation. He worked hard to reveal what had been going on and to get the case resolved and was always encouraging to us. I highly recommend Chris for his knowledge and ethics.

Very Good Attorney
Chris Young has helped me out a lot, with excellent advice. He let me do some of the work myself using my paralegal family resources to save money, and doesn't inflate the charges at all. He is knowledgeable and very responsive. Chris has a pleasant personality, and I feel I can talk to him about any issues I have.

A truly outstanding experience and attorney
I have been involved in a very painful and complicated family Trust litigation matter. I was referred to Chris by a friend, an estate planning attorney, who insisted I would be pleased with his services, and I have been - even more so than expected. My experience with Chris has been truly ‘outstanding’. He is very strategic, clever, and knowledgeable in the areas of expertise I retained him for. He quickly gets to the essence of what I wish to achieve even when I do not explain it well. His summarizations of our phone conversations (I live out of state) arrive promptly, are accurate and exceptionally-well written. Chris has never once missed an agreed upon phone meeting, deadline, or other event. He is outstanding in preparation/presentation of materials (e.g. declarations) for the court. My wife (who has a law degree) is very impressed with his legal acumen and gift of effective communication. Without fail, Chris is accurate and fair in his billings. Finally, and very important to me, he is empathetic and has an uncommon level of integrity. Without reservation I highly recommend Chris Young to those considering his services.

Medi-Cal Estate Recovery Claims
After my mom's death, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) presented me with two Medi-Cal claims - one of each of my parents. In speaking with the Alvarez Firm, I was referred to Chris Young which did an amazing job in assisting me with the whole process of settling the claims. From start to finish, Chris always showed professionalism, kindness and understanding specially because I was going through the grieving process at the time and on top of that I was being asked by DHCS for payment on the claims. I would most definitely recommend Chris Young and the Alvarez firm to anyone that needs assistance.

Great experience
My husband and I needed to have will/trust drawn up before leaving the country and naturally waited until the last minute. Chris and his partner were able to give lots of information and suggestions. The trust was drawn up and ready for us to sign before we left. We loved the ability to communicate personally as well as by email. We weren't charged by the phone call or email, so we really felt that we could ask all the questions we wanted. That was very beneficial. We also appreciated the kinds of questions that they asked us, it made for good decisions and understandings of what was best for us. Since that time, Chris has been helpful on several other small matters that needed advice. I find it very comforting to have a "go to lawyer" that will give me the information I need quickly. The value has been superb in very respect.
