Tenant / Landlord Case:
A typical client and lawyer discussion would be me leaving a voicemail and Mr. Fitch will respond via email. Mr. Fitch is a good writer, however did not offer much in strategy or advice in terms of recovering our damages. Mr. Fitch’s attitude in the beginning went from “go to war” to towards the end “settlement with deposit” which basically covered his lawyer fees.
I submitted my documentation for his review a week before we signed the Legal Agreement. Mr. Fitch says this would be an easy case. About nine months later, he says I thought you had all the receipts from the contractor. It would have helped if Mr. Fitch reviewed the documents that I submitted to him and I would have no problem asking the contractor for all receipts (nine months ago).. Being that this is my first law suit, I assume the various estimates from contractors, before/after pictures and final invoice was sufficient.
Mr. Fitch had no problem telling us how the opposing counsel was ultra aggressive. Other counsel said this, said that, said we don’t have this, was going to do that.. I was not sure if he was scared of the other counsel or was trying to scare us into a settlement. At the end, I negotiated the final settlement with the Tenants so we received a little more than the deposit (which paid for the lawyer fees).
Overall, I was very disappointed by the lack of preparation, lack of aggression and lack of strategy in handling this case. Everything was handled last minute and documents were submitted last minute. If you can settle with the opposing side please do so as it will save you large sums of money in attorney and court fees. If you do really need a lawyer, I would suggest finding one that is on top of things, keeps you informed, more aggressive and will fight for you.

Bill handled a trial for me a few. He is absolutely amazing in his ability. I was very impressed in his skill and knowledge. He made the other attorney look like a fool. I was extremely happy with my experience. Not only is Bill very good in court, he is also very helpful and very knowledgeable. I would call him again in a heartbeat if I ever needed another attorney.

William generously shared with me his expertise about California Single Lodger Law even though he doesn't practice where I am located in Marin County and I couldn't hire him to help me with my problem. His knowledge is very valuable because very few attorneys, much less law enforcement, know this somewhat obscure set of California laws.
