In late 2021, I found myself charged with misdemeanor criminal battery (242 PC) after defending my family in a dispute over a parking place. I was horrified to learn about the extremely low bar set for the definition of this crime in California, and that I found myself facing this charge for defendi...ng my family. I was completely shocked at the lack of concern shown by the police for my version of what happened during my arrest and the potential consequences if I were to be found guilty of the charge made against me. As someone who had never been charged with a criminal offense, I was terrified. Fortunately, I located the SoCal Law Network while using on-line resources to develop a list of potential attorneys. My first call was to Alan Castillo who immediately won me over. His background as a public defender, his education at UCLA and Loyola Marymount Law School, his extensive experience in the Orange County criminal justice system, and his knowledge of California Law had me from the start.
