No website we are on advertises free consults. However, I do conduct free living trust consults for all potential clients (this was not for a living trust). When a matter is very complex there is no possible way I can answer "one" question during a 10 minute phone call. Also, pursuant to the rules of ethics, a lawyer must conduct a thorough conflict check to make sure no potential opposing parties were ever represented. This was all relayed to this person. However, she did not want to go through these steps and wanted a specific answer immediately on a very complex question (complex enough for her to not know what to do and seek legal advice). I often try to compare this process to a auto mechanics. When your car is having issues you can't merely call the mechanic and say my car is doing the rrrrr, ding, humming thing, can you tell me the exact issue with it over the phone? Rather, you must take it down and allow the mechanic to diagnose the problem. I wish this lady luck in her search for the answer and will continue to allow prospective clients to be put through directly to my phone for an initial hello and thought on their matter.
