My wife and I had just left a show on the 4th of July 2016. We were both in good spirits driving home, reminiscing about the show when out of nowhere we were slammed from behind by another car. Our car spun at least 6 times before it came to a stop and bystanders called out to us to see if were ok.... Both of us were bruised and achy. I felt something wet on my face, which ended up being blood. It was not possible to get out the driver's side, so after my wife was helped out of the vehicle I was helped next. The vehicle that hit us from behind was driving in excess of 90 mph. The driver was intoxicated. He didn't have insurance. He wasn't the registered owner of the vehicle. We were told that he too would need medical attention, but then he would be taken off to jail. An ambulance arrived. My wife complained about neck pain, so she was placed on a gurney and carried into the ambulance. I was having difficulty straightening my leg, so it was better for me to be walked into the ambulance where I sat behind my wife and we were taken to the hospital. Not only were we both hurting. We were out a car. My wife and I have medical insurance and I have car insurance, but we were genuinely concerned about how this all was going to work out.
