Not helpful and didn't get what I paid for
Paid $250 for an hour initial consult at his Fresno office. A waste of my time and a switcheroo. I used his Avvo reviews to feel I was getting someone well-regarded to consult with and, despite his good reviews, my experience was not good. I specifically scheduled a time when I could have a face-to...
Dear Linda, While we rarely get bad reviews, I hear your frustration and remember our discussion very well. In short, the law isn’t always “the best answer”. Please allow me to explain. While the law often has a solution, and we discussed various legal options, none were your best solution. In short, your opponents were breaking the law. Civil legal remedies have little effect on criminals who are breaking into your house. More drastic measures are necessary to protect you. Hiring an attorney or spending more money with our office to take civil recourse would, very likely, be throwing good money after bad. Clients don’t like to hear me tell them not to spend more money with us, but sometimes not filing suit is the right thing to do. While my job is to help clients with legal solutions, I advised you to pursue a non-legal remedy. I advised you to not go beyond our hour-long consultation with our office because it didn’t make sense for you to fight using the civil litigation remedies our office provides. I told you if you wanted to fight, and put yourself in harm’s way, we would be by your side, trying to keep you safe as best as possible and advocating for you the entire way, but this would be against my counsel. In more detail, during your appointment, (where we went over an hour and I didn’t charge you for the extra time), we poured over Google earth satellite images regarding your location, I was able to put your property images on the screen in front of you while we discussed each problematic neighbor in detail. I took several pages of notes. We explored various legal options with the courts and county and I outlined different attack strategies and explained not only the costs, but also the risks and opportunities associated with each strategy. At the end of our discussion, my concern was that the value of the money spent fighting legal battles with people who have shown no respect for the law would be overwhelmed by the value of moving away from your residence. (“never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.” ~George Bernard Shaw) While we have dealt with countless neighbor situations before, because of the break-ins and criminal activity in your remote home, no amount of legal work can fully protect you living by yourself at an advanced age in a home where neighbors are snubbing the law and endangering your well-being. In this situation the tools in our civil legal toolkit are useless in comparison to the value of changing your environment and moving to a safer locale. We wish you the best and hope your situation improves.
