About me

Monty A. McIntyre is a mediator and Relentless Optimist®.

His mission is to bring peace into the lives of people by excellently helping them settle disputes. Through preparation, patience, perception, persuasion, and persistence Monty A. McIntyre creatively helps people obtain rapid, reasonable resolution of their disputes. He relentlessly pursues closure. 

Mr. McIntyre has settled over a thousand civil cases in a wide variety of subject matter areas. He also serves as an arbitrator and a referee.

As a neutral Mr. McIntyre uses his more than 35 years of extensive civil trial experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in business, insurance bad faith and tort cases. Mr. McIntyre has tried to conclusion more than 100 cases, including more than 30 civil jury trials. He has obtained more than $50 million in settlements and verdicts for plaintiffs, and has obtained numerous defense verdicts and results for defendants.

From 2012 to the present Mr. McIntyre has been named in The Best Lawyers in America. From 2007 to the present he has been named as a Super Lawyer. He has been named numerous times as a Top Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript. Mr. McIntyre has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) since 1995, is a Master in the Enright American Inn of Court, has received two Outstanding Trial Lawyer Awards from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and is "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. McIntyre was the 2014 President of the San Diego Chapter of ABOTA. Mr. McIntyre was the President of the San Diego County Bar Association in 2002. From 2003-2006 he was a member of the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents. From 2006-2010, Mr. McIntyre served as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Judicial Independence. And, from 2005-2012 he served as a delegate in the ABA House of Delegates helping to set national policy for American lawyers.
