Peter Liss is an excellent criminal defense attorney and I would recommend him highly to anyone needing help in the Vista court system. I was charged with a domestic violence charge in Vista by a former girlfriend after I called the police asking for their help to remove her from my home. Although th...ere was no evidence of violence, she claimed that I had threatened her so the police charged me. In such cases it becomes a "he said/she said" situation and the police are obligated to charge someone when called. In most cases they side with the woman for safety and caution if the facts are unclear. They did so in this case even though I had called them for help. My arrest and pending prosecution was an extremely traumatic event for me. I was worried about my employment, reputation, financial losses, and physical safety. When I met Peter and he heard my story he immediately made me feel better by carefully explaining the legal process and possible outcomes and costs. He also never promised an outcome, but told me the probability that my case would be dismissed due to the circumstances and why things happened the way they did. He took the time to tell me who would be involved in the decisions, what would happen next, and what he would do on my behalf. He went out of his way to return every phone call himself, make every appearance himself, and charge me the lowest possible fees. I shopped around and some firms were charging more than double. Peter keeps a very lean staff, but don't let this fool you. He is one of the most professional lawyers I have ever met and I have dealt with many in my business life before. He just believes in giving personal attention and keeping costs down. He also wants to know the people handling the case in the courthouse from the DA and their staff to the Judges and clerks. Peter Liss is not only a talented criminal attorney but also a great human being. He represented me for a misdemeanor charge. In 25 years of my living in US, I had no idea what that means. I was arrested and charged with a Felony DUI with injury and needed a top notch lawyer to help defend me. After I did my research and read many reviews on several attorney's, I chose Mr. Peter Michael Liss and I am ever so glad I did! Without going into details, I was faced with a Felony DUI with in...jury and Great Bodily Harm which could have been strike 1 and up to 3 years in jail just on that one charge alone. I was open and honest with Mr. Liss right from the start and you need to be, so he knew exactly what he needed to do to defend me in court. Mr. Liss told me right from the very first time we talked, that I was facing very serious charges and what I was looking at as far as punishments and penalties. He did not sugar coat anything and it was pretty scary for me to say the least. I have already been sentenced and because Mr. Liss did his research on my case and fought very hard for me, he was able to articulate to the court that I was a decent person who made a mistake and being labeled as a felon did not fit me and the person who I really am. I am truly remorseful and Mr. Liss has seen that in me. My Felony charge with injury was reduced to a Misdemeanor with injury and adding the Great Bodily Harm charge was NOT added either. Words cannot express our gratitude towards Attorney Peter Liss. We came to him in turmoil and fear. However with his expert knowledge in Criminal Law, we knew he would not lead us astray.
