I didn't hire Peter Liss when my college-age son got into a spot of trouble in the first week of school, resulting in a Minor in Consumption of Alcohol charge. Peter kindly called me back promptly after my emailed inquiry, talked me out of hiring him (it would've cost more for his time than a plane ticket, and he wouldn't actually do anything other than sit with my son in my place), and instead helped me brainstorm the best way to handle the situation, including submitting a notarized statement explaining my absence and requesting a continuance if my presence was truly imperative. The hearing went exactly the way Peter described it, and my son is doing what he needs to do to fulfill the diversionary requirements and put this behind him.
