The major focus of my work right now is counseling employers on employment law matters and litigating alleged discrimination, retaliation, civil rights violations, and violations of disability access laws. I also have years of experience in the appellate courts of California, Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit.
In particular, I have experience with employment law issues involving the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Title VII, 42 USC 1981, 42 USC 1983, and disability access issues under Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and California access laws, Title 24, and related statutes.
I am licensed to practice law in California and Oregon. I am also admitted to practice in the federal district courts of Oregon and California and in the Ninth Circuit court of appeals.
Here are a couple of published opinions based on work I've done: Waisanen v. Clatskanie School District, 215 P.3d 882 (Or. App. 2009) and Tumbling v. Merced Irrigation District, 262 F.R.D. 509 (E.D. Cal. 2009).
Specialties: Employment litigation and counseling, civil rights litigation, disability access litigation and counseling, civil and administrative appeals, and transactional matters relating to employment issues and business entity formation.
In 2006, I graduated first in my class from the Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon, where I was a member of the Willamette Law Review and received eight high paper awards, including those for Appellate Advocacy, Employment Law, and Legal Research and Writing.
When not at work, I enjoy surfing, which I learned as a kid at the beaches in Leucadia and Encinitas, in San Diego's North County. My other interests include backpacking, vegetable gardening, blogging, and writing.
I look forward to hearing from you.
