About me

A native of New York City, Steven graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 1999 and obtained his license to practice law in Florida in that year. Following graduation, he began his career with a mid-sized litigation firm in Miami. In 2001, Mr. Brumer earned an LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree in Taxation from the University of San Diego and obtained his license to practice law in California. He also holds licenses to practice before various federal courts in California and Florida, as well as the United States Tax Court.

Steven has practiced in the areas of consumer bankruptcy, insurance and corporate defense, estate planning, wealth transfer taxation, probate, trust administration, trust litigation, employment law, and general corporate transactions and representation. Prior to becoming affiliated with the firm, he served as general counsel to various real estate and mortgage entities including Windsor Capital Mortgage Corporation, Pacific Real Estate Network, The National Academy of Independent Brokers, and Real Estate Consulting Group.

Steven is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. An avid road cyclist, he participates in numerous recreational, charity, and century rides (rides of 100+ miles) each year and also enjoys hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and motorcycling. In addition,  Mr. Brumer serves the San Diego community as a mentor for children and teens living active lives with Type-1 diabetes (formerly known as "Juvenile Diabetes") and also served as co-chair of the “Dads’ Club” at his children’s elementary school. He resides in San Diego with his wife (a pediatric nurse), his two children, and the family’s two dogs: a yellow Labrador retriever and a Weimaraner.
