Steven K. Brumer practices family law, bankruptcy law and estate planning and probate with Fleischer & Ravreby. Prior to joining the firm, he held a real estate broker’s license, served as general counsel to several real estate and mortgage companies, and operated his own boutique law practice in downtown San Diego.
Steven is one of a handful attorneys with a specialized post-graduate Master of Laws (“LL.M.”) degree in taxation. This course of study focuses on tax planning, analysis, and litigation and has proven invaluable as Steven counsels clients in family law and bankruptcy matters.
“With so many attorneys from which to choose, a client needs someone he or she will want to work with and whom they trust and respect," he says. “Only an experienced attorney with knowledge of both the law and the way your jurisdiction is handling certain issues is in the right position to counsel and guide you along.”
A native of New York City, Steven graduated from the University of Miami School of Law and began his career with a downtown Miami law firm. In 2001, he earned his LL.M. degree in taxation and obtained his license to practice in California. Steven is also admitted to practice before various federal courts in California and Florida, as well as the United States Tax Court. He is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association’s bankruptcy and family law sections, and the San Diego Family Law Bar Association, as well.
An endurance road cyclist and indoor cycling enthusiast, Brumer holds an indoor cycling instructor certification and participates in several long-distance organized and self-supported outdoor rides each year. He can be found on most weekends pedaling along the coast with the Challenged Athletes Foundation Cycling Club, an organization that provides opportunities and support for athletes with physical challenges. When off the bikes, Brumer enjoys snowboarding in the mountains and hiking the many trails in and around San Diego County with his family. He resides in San Diego with his wife (a pediatric nurse), their children, and the family’s two rescued dogs: a Weimaraner and a Doberman/hound mix.
