I hired Ms. Beaudry on a Domestic Violence case for a protective order following a case where I was assaulted by my ex. On the date of the initial court hearing Ms. Beaudry was late to court and the case was continued per the restrained party's request. On the date of the next hearing I waited for Ms.... Beaudry in court and text her to let her know I was there, she said she was having car trouble, we exchanged a few more messages and she stated she was on her way. A couple of hours went by and she did not show up. She called the court and informed that she was in another hearing at another courthouse and was not opposed to continuing the case yet again. She never showed up to court and the clerk informed me of the next hearing date. I felt disappointed, let down, and discouraged in that she did not prioritize my case. This was completely unethical and unprofessional. She left me out of the loop and didn't inform me or prepare me for what was to come. I hired new counsel and spent more money in retainer fees as the case was continued. The fact that she was not looking out for my best interest in this case is not good practice. In these cases, timing is everything and I didn’t take my time to research an attorney. I was handed a card outside the court and this is how I came to meet her. Considering the amount of emotional, mental and physical stress I have been through in the last 6 months I didn't think I would have to deal additional stress, additional money wasted and more disappointment. I trusted her with this unfortunate life event.
