Getting a divorce is, by far, the most difficult experience I’ve ever had to go through. I was handling the process all on my own and felt hopeless with absolutely no idea where to start. The best advice I received was to “assemble a team” of people who would help get me through this quickly and easi...ly. This team included family & friends who provided support and an amazing realtor who handled a house transfer swiftly. But, I can confidently say that the MVP of my team was my divorce attorney, Brian Friedman. Long story short, I connected with Brian after meeting with his father, Robert Friedman for a consultation. I had met Robert through a referral from a high school friend. Robert was wonderful, but suggested that his son, Brian might be a better 'fit'. The two previous attorneys I had met with before him didn't ‘feel right', so I agreed to speak with Brian. The minute I spoke to Brian on the phone, I knew he was the attorney that was going to handle my divorce. He is very matter of fact, but in a patient, calm manner that not most attorneys are able to communicate with. My divorce was pretty clear cut: not children, no joint businesses or finances to split, and a house that had already agreed to be transferred. Brian was extremely prompt when handling all the terms and communicating with my ex. Humiliating as it was, my ex began to drag his feet a little, but Brian was firm yet professional, and was able to obtain all the documentation needed to complete the process. It got to the point where I felt so comfortable talking to him on the phone that I was actually looking forward to his phone calls. (Who actually likes talking to their divorce attorney????) I am not an expert in attorney rates, but what I paid seemed very fair for the services he provided. The whole process was so smooth that I was divorced within 4 months and have never actually met Brian face to face. That’s right! After my initial (face to face) consultation with Robert, Brian and I conduced all of our business through phone and email. Divorce is an absolute nightmare, but having someone like Brian by my side, who was able to guide me and get me through it as quickly as possible was the best decision I ever made. I wouldn’t mind getting a divorce again as long as I knew Brian was on my team (kidding!).
