My husband and I were being harassed by our condo HOA re: our emotional support animal (ESA) being over the building's weight limit. One board member even reported a fake incident asserting he violently attacked her to initiate HOA's efforts against us. While we had personally defended our incredibly... well-behaved ESA & provided board with various state & federal legislation supporting our animal residing with us, as well as the prescribing doctor's letter explaining need for service dog, (the latter being the only true requirement for an ESA who is over building weight limit), the HOA was still illegally demanding removal of dog. We clearly needed someone with a legal background to get our points across, ideally via a simple cease & desist letter, as we had no desire to sue the HOA, which would only penalize our neighbors most of whom are sane, friendly and not supporting the Board's actions in this matter. He firmly stated that we will initiate legal procedures unless they complied in writing, seeking punitive damages, reimbursement for interest, costs and attorney's fees. Pleased to say we received confirmation that the matter has been dropped as a result of our attorney, George Chakmakis's effective and thorough work.
