Manwill v. Clark County

Case Conclusion Date: 10.22.2009

Practice Area: Workers compensation

Outcome: Manwill won benefits.

Description: This was an important victory for fire fighters who might have heart conditions diagnosed within the first five years of their employment. The Nevada Supreme Court held that so long as a fire fighter has five years of continuous, fulltime employment before he or she is disabled by heart disease, the fire fighter has workers' compensation coverage for his heart disease. (Firefighters and police officers have special coverage for heart disease under Nevada law, unlike other employees.)
