It is an honor to recommend Melinda K. Hardy for any work that revolves around School Law. Ms. Hardy was retained as the school’s attorney while I was employed as the Director of Human Resources. It was imperative that our office be current in all matters of the law that affected our faculty, staff and/or students. Since one of the undertakings of the HR office involved updating and rewriting the policy and procedures manual, it was urgent that we present our documents to Ms. Hardy for review and receive prompt feedback. We were consistently provided with timely service. Another project involved the hiring of a new Superintendent. Ms. Hardy steered us in the proper direction as we conducted a nationwide job search for candidates. Ms. Hardy was knowledgeable in both Navajo Nation law and state law as well. All points of concern were handled with consummate completeness. Furthermore, her comprehensive approach to legal matters was demonstrated once again during a very difficult and sensitive situation. The circumstances required utmost confidentiality and discretion. I am pleased to report that Ms. Hardy’s professional handling of the many aspects of that scenario allowed for conflict resolution to come to fruition with all parties gaining a new insight into an imminent situation. Having been one of the parties with whom Ms. Hardy worked with closely, I can say from first-hand experience, Melinda K. Hardy provides expert service to her clients. Her grounded assistance and knowledgeable leadership has the potential to foster new growth and to cultivate a healthy work environment for any organization.

Melinda Hardy served as my school's Legal Counsel for serveral years. One of her specialities is Indian Law and this was invaluable in providing sound advise on several employee related topics, legislative issues, development of policies and creating the school's comprehensive policies and procedures manual. She also updated this manual on an annual basis. Her expertise, timeliness and professionalism was critical to the daily operations of the school, especially in the area of personnel. In addition, I found Ms. Hardy to be assertive on behalf of the school's interests, especially in working directly with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Gila River Indian Community. Ms. Hardy worked in Flagstaff for a major law firm and was the assigned attorney for the school.

I would unequivocably recommend Melinda K. Hardy as a lawyer. When I was superintendent of a school district, she was my mainstay/guidance/mentor for issues ranging from sexual harrassment to personnel issues to student behavior/expulsion to special education issues. I have worked with several lawyers during the last half century, and I can say without reservation that Melinda K. Hardy is a dedicated, caring, highly intelligent human being who has great love for the law and for people in general. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. There were many different types of cases that Ms. Hardy handled, but the survey only allowed me to enter one.
