Jimmy Cool is a litigator and trial attorney whose practice emphasizes serious or catastrophic personal injuries, commercial disputes between closely held companies, professional administrative or regulatory action, and a variety of matters involving the rights of public employees. Jimmy also has broad experience in matters involving the regulation of medical marijuana dispensaries.
However, Jimmy's practice is not defined by a particular area of law or subject matter; instead, he focuses on representing good people – ranging from families and individuals to closely held companies and professional organizations such as the Arizona Court Reporters Association – who need responsive legal guidance and creative solutions
His mission is to counsel his clients about their options and to work together to achieve their goals. Put differently, Jimmy seeks to help his clients find cost-effective and practical solutions to serious problems.
Practice areas
Plaintiff's' personal injury cases involving negligence, nursing home elder abuse, intentional torts, and civil rights. I also represent victims of car accidents who have suffered serious injuries. Limited medical and professional malpractice cases are considered, but not ordinarily accepted.
11 years
Complex commercial litigation involving disputes between shareholders, partners, and clients/vendors.
11 years
I periodically represent licensed and regulated professionals of most sorts in disciplinary proceedings before regulatory agencies, commissions, and tribunals. I also advise medical marijuana dispensary businesses regarding compliance with state regulatory requirements and restrictions
11 years
Representation of Arizona's largest law enforcement union in general civil, employment, and labor law matters. My experience includes representation of employees in ADA and FLSA matters. I also engage in labor-related litigation and participate and assist clients in negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
11 years
As much as possible, I try to help my clients solve their problems and achieve their goals. Oftentimes, the path to realizing those objectives does not fit squarely under one practice area designation or another. So, about 10% of the time, I'm just a fixer or a fighter.

I have known Jimmy for over seven years now. He has been a great coach, a wise mentor, a good friend, and a valuable colleague. Jimmy is one of the most creative attorneys I know when it comes to trial strategy. His ideas and his ways of thinking are truly remarkable. He is also one of the most polished and persuasive oral advocates I know. His accomplishments and awards speak for themselves. He works hard, he truly cares about people, and you should feel very comfortable if your case is in his hands.

Bright. Honest. Hard working. Jimmy is a credit to the profession. I'd hire him in an instant. /s/ Ward Merdes
I had the opportunity to work with Jimmy in his capacity as both coach of ASU Mock Trial and as a Board Candidate for the AMTA, and in both found him to be very hard working, prepared, and personable. Given some of the other endorsements on his profile, it looks like he handles his law practice in the same manner, and I would absolutely recommend and/or refer clients to his practice.

I have known Mr. Cool for three years, so I have been able to see his dedication to the practice of law. He has worked tirelessly to become a strong litigator and I have been very impressed with his advocacy skills. Mr. Cool can be trusted to handle cases professionally and competently. I endorse James Cool.
Edward Hopkins, Litigation Attorney on Nov 1, 2011

A hard worker by nature, Jimmy is the type of lawyer who will stay late and lose sleep to find the best solution for his client. I routinely seek his feedback on my own cases. I trust his skill. I trust his judgment. I trust his talent. He is always prepared. He has expert level knowledge in the areas of law he practices. He is also, in my opinion, the best Arizona trial lawyer of his generation.
