Last year, I was stopped for running through a yellow light that turned red at an intersection in downtown Boise. As the police approached my car, I knew they would ask me where I was coming from and of course once I told them “a restaurant.” Their next question to me was, “have you had anything to d...rink?” That’s when I knew I was in trouble. I literally had two drinks. Two! But for some reason, my alcohol level was over the limit. I was taken to jail and charged with a DUI. Devastating! I’ve never been in trouble with the law, I never get into trouble, and here I was a 63-year-old woman being charged with a DUI.
Mr. Sutton was highly recommended to me by a friend. I called his office panicking Monday morning to see how he could help me. I was devastated over the situation throughout the weekend waiting to get into his office, scared, nervous, embarrassed and ashamed.
Mr. Sutton saw me that afternoon and calmed me down immediately. He assured me the best thing I could do was to try to relax and let him go forward and do what he does best... defend me. I put all my faith in him. Mr. Sutton ordered the police report, the tape of the incident, made sure the policeman were certified to give the breath test, and other important pieces of evidence that would be needed to try and release me of this awful charge. I was barely over the 8.0 limit, 8.5 the second time I had to blow in the machine. But I was still arrested.
On my hearing date, Mr. Sutton had me come to court, but I didn't have to go into the court room before the Judge. I just stayed in a conference room awaiting my sentence. He said he would go before the Judge and plead my case for me and if I needed I to appear, he would come and get me. After about 15 minutes Mr. Sutton came into the conference room, and said the judge gave me a "With Held Judgement." Meaning, after a year, this charge would be off my record. I couldn't believe it. Mr. Sutton did what he said he would do... handle my case and win it for me. I was so relieved and over joyed I was ready to cry. Mr. Suttons law student, Tracy was very supportive of me also. Every time I called the office, if Mr. Sutton was not available, Stacy was there to answer my questions.
I highly recommend Mr. Sutton, should you find yourself in a situation where it concerns your reputation, the shame of the crime, the humiliation of the ordeal by law enforcement, and the entire emotional trauma that you can go through after experiencing something like this.
Mr. Sutton gave me my dignity back. I will forever be grateful to him for the hard work, his dedication and overall concern for me, as his client. in fighting my case for me.
