Zachary S. Roeling (Zac) brings a track record of firm advocacy and problem-solving to the practice of family law, whether the issue is financial or child-related. Zac strives to balance the vigorous representation of clients with the understanding that legal matters involving personal relationships require sensitivity and a resolution-oriented approach. He listens to his clients, conducts a thorough analysis of all the facts, and is adept at distilling complex concepts into simple language that everyone can understand. Zac also recognizes that few family law issues are black and white and believes in fostering a calm, nonconfrontational atmosphere whenever possible.
Prior to joining Wells Family Law, Zac represented clients at two prominent Colorado domestic relations firms, Willoughby & Associates and Ciancio Ciancio Brown, P.C., where he litigated and mediated divorce, custody, legal separation, common law marriage, and probate matters for a variety of clients across Colorado. He also has experience in estate planning, including wills, trusts, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
Solution-oriented and child-focused, Zachary S. Roeling (Zac) brings a track record of firm advocacy and problem-solving to the practice of family law, representing clients in Colorado in legal issues both complex and simple related to legal separation and divorce, custody (or allocation of parental responsibilities), maintenance (alimony), post-decree modifications of custody, including child relocation and removal disputes, same-sex divorce and civil unions, unmarried partner disputes, property division, child support, complex custody matters, premarital and marital agreements, and probate administration. He is as equally comfortable in court as he is settling cases in the conference room without resorting to judges.
Mr. Roeling is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the National LGBT Bar Association, the Colorado LGBT Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association. Fluent in both English and French, he has years of experience mediating and litigating common law marriage, legal separation, custody and divorce for clients throughout the state. He graduated with a Dean's Scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences and a Katherine Jacob Lamont Scholarship in the Humanities. He graduated from the University Of Denver Sturm College of Law with his Juris Doctor as a recipient of the Robert B. Yegge Memorial Scholarship. As a student attorney, he mediated several cases in both federal and state courts for the Mediation & Arbitration Clinic, and has continued a mediation practice as an attorney, helping clients reach resolution outside the courtroom.
Admitted to practice in the state of Colorado, he takes the time to give back to his community. Mr. Roeling formerly worked with Colorado Legal Services and gained a deep understanding of the need for pro bono representation. He also spent time in Paris, teaching English to middle school and elementary students.
