We were prepared for the standard sentence of 10 days in jail, plus any probation terms. The Judge offered 20 days of in home detention, of which we declined due to my work schedule overseas, we told him we would take the 10 days of jail instead. The judge countered that offer with 2 days of jail, plus 8 days of in home detention. We were both surprised, particularly when he waived a lot of the court fees and placed me on unsupervised probation. I purposely do not reveal too many details of this case, because each is different, and I would not like people to think that your case would be the same as mine. The main point is that Ann helped me make a connection with both the DA and the Judge that helped me attain a conviction that did not destroy my career. This connection was a demonstration of my ability to prove to them that I was being proactive in this case and showing them the side of me that Ann had advised. Again, I was guilty as charged, but Ann Toney helped me to mitigate the situation as much as possible. I was always aware of what was going on, and she was always in the courtroom when I arrived. She always understood how the DA and the Judge were thinking through her experience.
