Not Impressed
At the initial meeting, Scott told me my Appeal case COULD get very expensive. I placed my $3500 retainer and 3 weeks later was told I owe $4700+ on top of that, all for a 10-page Appeal. My inquiry about contempt and harassment charges were ignored, as was the opposing party motion to modify Child S...
First, we were not retained to handle your contempt issues or motion to modify child support - we were only retained to draft and file and appeal, which we did. Second, you admit that I told you this could be costly and it was - you omit the fact that the Court charged a fee for your transcript. In fact, we sent you regular invoices on the 15th and last day of the month via Email and you knew up front that there wasn't a payment plan. You also engaged in Email communication with the firm regarding your bill and issues within the case and now you lie and say there is no communication, which again is false. Third, your bill was about $2,500 less than what you have led the public to believe. Fourth, you were also represented by an attorney in your original case for child support and parenting time - these are not issues that we were never involved in - the appeal was a document that required research, time, and advocacy to get these issues sorted out, however, the court still has not made a decision on that document as of yet. Fifth, I take special exception to the fact that you are calling us "ambulance chasers" - that is unethical and you sought us out and retained us - we entered into a fee agreement that explained how we bill for our time and you acknowledged receipt of that as well. While I am sorry that you have financial burdens, the fact is that your review is based on issues that we were not hired for and based on your admitted upfront knowledge of costs.
