Mom and daughter are now living happily outside Colorado.
When parents divorce and children are involved, there are times when one parent wants to leave the State for good reasons. In a case from Douglas County, Colorado, I represented a mother who had spent her entire life taking care of the parties' minor daughter. When mom wanted to move, the father said "no." A report was generated and sent to the court recommending that the child stay in Colorado with dad if mom were to move out of state. We thought the report was weak and reached the wrong conclusions. We helped mom overcome those recommendations and convinced a judge that mom ought to be able to move with the child.
