I chose this law firm for two main reasons. First, their price was good value – not the cheapest but excellent value for the service and not gouging my wallet either. Second, they were one of the few law firms I contacted who actually had a lawyer speak to me to answer some initial questions. When I... initially sat down and met with Mat, we talked about my case and developed a plan. I hired him that day and he filed my case that same day. He explained every step of the process very clearly and offered his advice along the way. That plan was executed perfectly and there were no “big surprises” at the end. If you’re looking for a family law attorney, Mat is who you want, hands down. I had the best experience with him, despite going through a stressful and upsetting time in my life. I am located out-of-state and needed to find a Texas attorney without getting to meet them in person. It made me nervo...us to hire an attorney for something as delicate as a divorce and custody case, without actually meeting them, but after talking to Mat for the first time, I knew I could put my trust in him. Mat was quick to respond to me every single time. Whether it was by phone, email, or text, he made sure to be available. Even at hours that I didn’t expect him to be working. (And in case you’re wondering, NO, he wasn’t charging hourly for this. Mat did not seem money-motivated, like some other attorneys are. Instead, Mat seemed to have a genuine interest and passion for law and for helping his clients.) He always took the time to listen to me, answer all my question, and explain things in ways that I could understand by translating the legal jargon. I was pretty overwhelmed with everything going on, and it was confusing with divorce filings both in my state and in my husband’s state (Texas), so I’m sure I might have asked the same question more than once, but Mat was always full of patience, re-explained things for me, and kept it real. He didn’t try to over-promise or focus on the “best outcome” or the “likely outcome”....He made sure to keep me aware of all potential outcomes. I think that is so important. My divorce/custody case was unique because it involved simultaneous filings in two different states, which I guess doesn’t happen all too often. Mat took the time to research the laws to make sure everything was handled appropriately. Also, the Texas divorce filing was not in Travis/Williamson County where Mat offices out of, but Mat agreed to take the case anyway, and travel. Prior to finding Mat, I checked with several other Austin-area law firms, who wouldn’t consider traveling to another county. I was very grateful to find someone as competent and responsive as Mat who was also willing to travel for the case. Mat handled things great and was able to provide the best outcome for me and my child. I would recommend him to anyone (and everyone) who needs a family law attorney in or around the Austin area. A welcoming experience from the beginning. From the lawyers recommended to me, Mr. Rueda was the only one who was willing to patiently sit and listen when I came in for a free consultation. We sat down and discussed everything. He dug through the facts and walked me through the steps. Maybe my case w...asn’t the most urgent matter out there, but he worked hard on the case and always made himself available to speak, which is refreshing considering my past expenses with other lawyers. Though it was an uncontested divorce, there were some complicated points which Mr. Rueda dealt with flawlessly. He is super professional, communicative, and goes way beyond the extra mile. His prices are very reasonable, and when some complications with the completion of the case arose, Mr. Rueda took the extra cost of the extra unexpected on himself, staying true to the agreed upon price though the scope of the work changed. He will definitely be my go-to lawyer for all future legal help I need.
