Gave us Hope

We had searched for several months for the right attorney out of the Austin area to help us. Needless to say we were at our breaking point. We had been told several things but mainly that there was nothing that could be done because we live too far & it would cost thousands of dollars just to get sta...rted. My mother-in-law's attorney out of the Fort Worth, Texas area referred me to AVVO to find an attorney since we do not live in the Austin area. In fact we are three hours away. On the day I searched on AVVO, I spoke with three other attorney offices & Mr. Rueda was the only one who called me back, and didn't want to charge me $100/hour for a phone consultation. He had a prior appointment set up 30 mins from our call, but he took time out to actually listen with compassion to our story. He also called me back after his appointment to finish up talking with me, and he let me know how he could help us & what our options were. My husband has had 12 long years of battling his ex-girlfriend to just see his son. Long story short...he's always paid his child support on time as well as insurance, and we just wanted to see the child on a normal (per court order) visitation schedule that had been denied numerous of times because it wasn't convenient for her. Mr. Rueda not only dealt with numerous of lies from the ex-girlfriend on our court date set up by the Attorney General, but rescheduled a final hearing date that thankfully ended up in (long but worth it) mediation. He went above & beyond to get us exactly what Den deserved...a normal visitation schedule to build a bond with his son. He never waivered from what Den wanted & deserved, even though the ex-girlfriend was persistent on not giving in & wanted everything her way. Mr. Rueda never failed to take the time to answer all of our questions (and we had several). His knowledge about family law is over the top, he's very professional as well as personable, and told us of options that we didn't even realize we had. My husband was very anti-lawyers by the time we found Mr. Rueda because we had dealt with a few that showed little to interest in helping us. Mr. Rueda made him feel like a long time friend, and never made us feel like we were just "another client". My husband felt comfortable & was able to open up about the way the long 12 years had taken a toll on him, and expressed at times he had no hope it would ever get better. He was ready to give up until we found Mr. Rueda. The relief he made us feel is priceless. I'm not sure I can adequately express what he has meant (and will always mean) to our family. He was a true God-send.

Hope When There Was Little

So my experience is based on consulting with Mr. Rueda. Although admittedly this involves a limited scope of knowledge, it had enough impact on me to take time out of my hectic schedule to inform others of my positive experience. My time is limited, as my court dealings are not over, and I have a hot...ly contested final hearing approaching. But this brings me to what moved me to write a review about Mr. Rueda. I am not from the U.S. After two horrific experiences with previous attorneys (think the norm- money hungry, sans any moral fiber), my trust and faith in these professionals is quite limited. So after months of emailing attorneys while abroad led to nothing (two attorneys later my finances can't hold up the big ticket retainer), I hit the ground running when back in the states (days before my pre-trial). After two solid days of being ridiculed, denied, and ignored by attorneys (between my support group and I- over 75 attorneys were contacted), I encountered Mr. Rueda. He was different. He was human, when no one else was. He listened where others interrupted, he offered sympathy while others mocked my horrific circumstances, and mostly importantly he offered help and support when everyone else said I was crazy and to look elsewhere (most would not take on such a large case, on such short notice, and those who would came with 10k + price tags up front). No one would offer guidance on what to do. Who to talk to in a country and system unfamiliar to me. Mr. Rueda would. Although he was not able to represent me (due to jurisdiction limitations), he did take his time to guide me through the process should I have to represent myself pro-se. He was even willing to help guide me on some of the discovery issues I was left with due to my former attorney. So after two days of zero hope, I found this man. Who at least gave me a glimmer of it. In a field overrun by those lacking integrity, empathy, and decency...it's nice to see the occasional human being. Would my case be tried closer to Mr. Rueda, I wouldn't have hesitated to hire him.

Creative solution to a complex situation - value driven.

I found Mat as a referral and was very impressed with the creative nature of his solution, one that I doubt I or other attorney's would have considered. I was in needed for a divorce from a common law marriage that had soured. Under Texas law common law marriage has the same stock as a marriage c...eremony. Mat was creative in filing for a divorce, then (both parties) agreeing to a non suit - effectively making the whole situation a no harm, no foul, giving each party a clean title to their future lives. Mat is professional, appreciates ways to make a difficult situation as simple as possible and at great value. I also know that if I have questions I can still call him and I would highly recommend anyone with family law issues to work with Mat.
