About me

James “Jake” Gilbreath is an experienced and skilled advocate for his clients both inside and outside the courtroom. Jake represents clients throughout the State of Texas in complex marital property and custody litigation. Although most of his cases resolve amicably, Jake has tried custody and marital property cases to juries, judges, and arbitrators and is known for his skill in the courtroom.

Jake practices exclusively in the area of family law and is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jake has received the Client’s Choice Award in Family Law from and is rated a 10.0 superb lawyer by the website. Jake frequently speaks on family law and litigation matters.

Jake is a member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, has received the Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award, and has been featured in the University of Texas Alumni Magazine for his commitment to pro bono work. 

Away from the office, Jake is a father of a toddler and fancies himself a poker player.
