My daughter passed away at birth 1998 and we hired Ryan as our lawyer. We were told by Ryan we needed to file a paper to show we were serious. Less than a month later he called with news hospital was ready to settle. He also informed us that his fee was 40% plus expenses, I told him it was 33% unless we went to court' He informed me because we filed that the paper he claimed was needed it was 40%. I told him I did not care if we ever settled that he misled us Just then phone started beeping because it was running out of batteries.Ryan was concerned I was taping him.I told him what do have to worry about. Then I told him the reason for beeping and hung up. Needles to say he had us over a barrel. So out of the goodness of his black heart he settled for 36% with hospital and 40% for doctor plus expenses. He ended up with more money then we received from doctor after expenses about 60/40. Expenses very questionable restaurants experts/ friends! I did try to file in 2000 with State bar in Austin but gave up it is difficult. Since then my son passed away also. I started thinking people do not need the person who is supposed to help take advantage of your lack of knowledge during the worst time of your life. In his defense this happened 19 years ago maybe he changed. Please beware!
