About me

Assistant County Attorney

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Andy Garbe was a gold-miner, weather observer on offshore oilrigs, and finally spent sixteen years as a paramedic with the Anchorage Fire Department.  Andy and his wife, Christie, moved to Austin in 2005 so that he could attend law school at the University Texas.  During law school, Andy clerked for the City of Austin Law Department and participated in the Criminal Defense and Actual Innocence clinics.  After graduation, Andy headed north for a one-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Stephanie Joannides in Anchorage. Upon returning to Austin, Andy prosecuted for the City of Austin Law Department, then went into private practice for three years before returning to prosecution with the Travis County Attorney's Office.
