Being the child of divorce and having three children of my own, I understand how important the relationship between a parent and a child is. As a prent, you want to make sure that you are in your child's life and are there to see everything from their first steps to the day they graduate and get married. A divorce does not end that relationship. I was drawn to divorce anc custody work to make sure that my clients preserve those bonds.

Mr. Merritt is extremely knowledgeable, an excellent communication and outstanding negotiator. He was able to protect the rights of my children. It was a complicated and long matter, yet, he explained everything and provided different scenarios thinking years ahead avoiding future issues.

I hired Mr. Merritt to represent me in my divorce. As scary as a situation as divorce can be, Mr. Merritt was very knowledgeable and professional from the start. He patiently walked me through the process (multiple times) which can be very confusing to someone who isn't familiar with legal jargon. He fought tooth and nail for what I was entitled to and what was in the best interest of the child involved. Ironing out visitation rights was the scariest part of the process and Mr. Merritt made sure that his priority was the welfare of my child. I would highly recommend Mr. Merritt to anyone entering into divorce proceedings. I felt safe with him by my side. He knows his stuff!

Austin Divorce Attorney
I engaged Chris to represent me in my divorce in October of 2012. It was finalized in April of 2013. When I engaged Chris, I did not know him and had only heard the anecdotal stories of how the only winners in a divorce were the attorneys. Over the months of my divorce, I found Chris to be patient, when needed, urgent, when required, but always committed to the best interest of me and my children. At a time when my ability to exercise good judgment was impaired, when the gravity of my decisions were most consequential, Chris consistently served me with resolution and perseverance. I don’t know how many people, a year past their divorce, consider their divorce attorney to be their friend, but I do.
