I was looking for a pro bono attorney and Mr Diez emailed me that he would take the case about 10 days before an appeal was due. I called his office three times and they assured me they would have him call me back with the detainee on the phone each time. Bottomline, he never filed the appeal and ...this Afghan will likely be deported. In my 6 years of immigration activism, I have worked with dozens of attorneys and this is the first time (and hopefully the last) that I have been misled in this way. It’s so tragic for the detainee
