I was driving my daughter to school and didn't completely stop at the stop sign. What are my chances if it goes to jury trial>
We used to call this the "California Roll." Unfortunately, it does not work very well in Texas.
It sounds like you admit that you failed to completely stop at the stop sign, so I would expect a conviction. You may be able to negotiate something on the fine for the ticket prior to trial, or take deferred/defensive driving.
If it were me, I would go down to Court when the date arrives and negotiate a deal with the prosecutor.

We were requested by judge to go to mediation prior to trial in a civil suit. It was 12 hours long, very contentious, and by end of the evening I agreed to terms which in a more rested state of mind likely would not have agreed to. I would have pr...
I agree that you need to discuss this with your attorney, you probably already have.
I am a mediator, so I thought I would share that generally if a party signs a mediated settlement agreement, at the conclusion of mediation, it is a binding contract and the other party can seek to enforce it and/or sue for breach of contract if you do not abide by its terms. You would have to prove fraud, duress, or something similar to get out of the agreement, but most of these agreements, at least mine, say something to the effect that the agreement is being signed voluntarily and without any duress.
I hope your matter has been resolved. Good luck to you.See question

It might be legal, but I also do not recommend it because you do not know how the parents will react. They might find it odd that you were following their child around. I would report it to the police instead.See question
I filed over a year ago and have done nothing further since the original filing. is there a time limit on divorce papers filed with the court? there was no restraining order and it was a no fault. it was filed in Texas where we live. we have a...
Courts differ as to when they will do this, but the Judge will eventually dismiss the case for want of prosecution if too much time has passed and the case is not set for trial.
Believe it or not, I have seen cases get set on the dismissal docket immediately after filed and an answer is filed...if the attorneys set the case for trial before the dismissal hearing, it is removed from the dismissal docket - I supsect the Judge in such Court does it to force an immediate trial setting of the case and no long delays. But this is rare.See question
My boyfriend is having his belongings moved from VT to TX. We contracted with WorldWide Movers and for the price of $1175. We paid $225.95 deposit, recieved a receipt saying the amount due was $950. The movers showed up to pick up belongings an...
I would want to read that contract and see any other documents you have from the moving company. If what you say can be proven with records, this would be a case of fraud, breach of contract, and violations of the Deceptive Trade and Consumer Protection Act.

I was banned from a store today and falsely accused of changing price tags. I called the police department so that i can get a police report. The police officer went into the store and the store manger lied on me that i falsely change price tags....
I am not sure I understand these facts. It appears you had 2 separate incidents...one where you were accused of changing price tags and another where you bought some clothes, the receipt did not match, you tried to exchange and was banned again from a different store?
That seems to be a very bad string of luck, if I understand the facts correctly.
I think we need a little more clarification and understanding. Are you wanting to sue both stores?See question
Purchase was made in the store. Ten per cent down was paid with a credit card.
I assume the contract says delivery by 9/4? If it does, you might be able to get out. Do you have some decent recent why you need the couches by 9/4? Obviously you do not want to wait another month. If you really want out, call their manager and complain and state they guaranteed delivery by 9/4....another month is not acceptable...you have to have a place to sit in your house, and you want to cancel. They may give you a discount or cancellation. It might work.
If not, you could contact an attorney, but you can't spend much on an attorney since you are dealing with a small dollar dispute. But an attorney like me might help you out with a letter for a small fee.

I will answer it this way, if you called me, I would recommend that you contact a lawyer in Waco (McLennan County) because that is the Court of continuing jurisdiction, or as a second choice, Hillsboro, because the case can be transferred there.

If this happended to my boy I would be pretty upset too....I believe the camp counselors have a duty to provide reasonable protection and safety to the kids that they are in charge of to supervise. How is this kid playing around with a screwdriver threatening to kill your boy, the counselor finds out about it, and the same day he assaults your boy. That seems unreasonable supervision to me, with notice of a danger to your child!
Now whether it is worth pursuing may depend on how bad your child was injured, either physically or mentally. Did he need medical treatment or counseling? You should probably discuss these things privately with an attorney.
I think you should call one.See question
