The younger lawyer, as it turned out be, had no experience in complicated cases and on my brother’s bond hearing, the judge denied his bond. At this point he had been detained for almost 2 months- His case was definitely complicated- He had 2 DWIs pending at that time and illegally overstated in the country, plus he had already being denied a bond. We have no words that could ever express how grateful we are for all that she did for our family. It is truly a nightmare to be in a situation like this- I promise. I had no idea where to start when my husband was detained by immigration. I contacted an attorney in our hometown, Waco, and the only name she gave me was Bertha Zuniga. My only regret was not hiring Mrs. Zuniga sooner! Our first lawyer gave us no hope and basically said it was a difficult case and little to do for him. My brother was arrested April 3rd, 2017. I paid the bond at the county jail where he was arrested however, because there was an immigration hold, he wasn’t able to be released. They transferred him from the county jail to the South Texas Detention Complex in Pearsall in less than a week after I had ...paid the bond. Everything happened so fast. In act of desperation, I consulted and hired the 1st immigration attorney I encountered to represent my brother. I wish I would’ve done more research on the lawyer.
