I am a professional dedicated exclusively to the practice of family law, with a uniquely compassionate perspective on divorce and custody matters. I completed law school during a multi-year divorce and custody battle. My child was only one year old when our trip down litigation lane began. My personal legal trials offered an unfortunate real world perspective on the stresses and realities of family law litigation, which I balanced while maintaining the demands of my legal education. I spent several semesters on the Dean's list and at the top of my class, despite my personal stresses.
After many years of high conflict, I finally reached a place of peace and cooperation with my daughter's father. This quiet and calm did not come without the assistance of skilled attorneys, family law mediators, and parenting facilitators. I think that my own experiences in family law court and alternative dispute resolution put me in a place to personally comprehend the struggles and stresses that accompany divorce and custody litigation. I practice what I preach. My child's father and I now sucessfuly share time and expenses with our daughter, and try to maximize her opportunities above our own interests.
In addition to my own experiences as a single mother, my professional practice has afforded me the opportunity to represent many fathers, and come to understand the unique challenges they face in custody and child support situations. I understand the stress these fathers face when financial challenges make there child support obligations unworkable, and the frustration they face when mothers try to limit their access to their children. Whether represeinting mothers or fathers, I reflect every step of the way on how the choices in your family law case will impact your life personally, and help the client consider all options and potential outcomes.
I focus my practice exclusively on family law, because I am passionate about helping families reach resolution with the least amount of trauma possible. No family is well served by divorce practitioners that add conflict and unnecessary legal fees to an already stressful and expensive process. I go above and beyond to address conflicts as soon as they arise. Promoting shared parenting, stiving for speedy resolution, and minimizing conflict are central aims of my practice.
I am an equally skilled creative problem solver when working as a mediator on high-conflict cases for other attorneys. As a parent and professional with training in human development, I have the ability to help craft developmentally appropriate solutions for co-parenting children, while protecting the interests of both parents in the long term. If you are looking to find a mediator, divorce or custody attorney that is focused on solutions, I have the skills and training to handle your case. I look forward to helping your family or clients, and listening to your concerns.
