Attorney Gratia P. Schoemakers has over a decade of legal experience during which she has worked as an Attorney for private law firms and non-profit organizations, small businesses, as well as Corporate Counsel for several multi-million dollar corporations. She has not only provided over 1000 hours of pro-bono and volunteer services to families and non-profit organizations, all over the world.
Attorney Schoemakers has helped countless families and small business owners achieve their goals through personalized planning so that each of her clients will gain peace of mind knowing that their family, business, and legacy are protected.
After starting her Solicitor career in 2004 within The Netherlands (Europe), Attorney Schoemakers immigrated to the United States, where she opened her Texas Law firm in 2011 with the idea of bringing back a long-term trust relationship, a model that has been long forsaken by the “Traditional Law Firms”.
Unlike other Estate Planning law firms who only focus preserving high net worth estates, we believe people of all economic backgrounds can benefit significantly from comprehensive estate planning. This might mean a simple will and a power of attorney, or a sophisticated trust and various estate preservation strategies. As your preferred law firm, we will help you identify your priorities and put a solid plan into place to protect them. Our services, however, do not stop here. The fact is, nothing last forever, even the best plan will fail over time, mostly because of changing tax laws, and or changes in your life, such as new or altered family dynamics and or financial circumstances.
GP Schoemakers, PLLC is unique and nothing like from other law firms, for we make aim to get to know you personally, and stay in touch through the years. We are nothing like the law firm who enter into an attorney-client relationship with the mindset to “disengage” from their clients once they’ve completed their legal work, essentially treating their clients like a docket number and not the unique individuals they truly represent.
Our holistic approach on legal services, means that when you choose us to advise you, we will strive to enhance your existing relationships by bringing your team of professional advisors together (CPAs, financial advisors, insurance advisors, etc.), it also means that once we have designed a personal plan for you, we will help you fund your trusts. We won’t leave you to fend for yourself after the trust document has been drafted. We will actually help you to completely fund your trust, whether it’s with our guidance or because you have hired us to completely fund your trust. This means drafting a Trust Transfer Deed for your home, creating and having you execute an Assignment of Personal Property to your trust, assisting you in re-titling any brokerage or other accounts, and obtaining beneficiary designation forms for your life insurance and retirement accounts, as necessary. Your trust is most effective only when the complete funding is done so that your plan will go according to the “plan”.
What does all this mean to you? It means that instead of a cookie-cutter form, we will create a custom tailored estate plan or business plan that will accomplish your individual goals and leave nothing to chance. Our goal is to provide you with a personalized plan that will protect you, a plan that will make sure your children are taken care of, that their inheritances are protected from life’s curve-balls, all while protecting your financial security from events such as divorces, law suits, illness or death.
But this is not the best part, the best part is we do not bill hourly. Everything we do is on a flat fee, agreed in advance.
Whether you work in high risk fields, such as physicians, real estate developers, real estate investors, dentists, and lawyers, or you have a small mom-and-pop business, we would be honored to help you and yours.
