This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.
This is the most serious penalty for a lawyer. If this attorney is currently practicing law, you should contact the Texas State Bar to understand the reasons for this disbarment.
Partially probated suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. When the attorney returns to practice he or she will be on probation, meaning the State monitors the attorney's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior

I consulted with this lawyer, Janice Oviatt regarding immigration visas. She promised the earth but and took my old passports showing visa history and wanted money up-front which fortunately we did not give. After several un-returned calls asking for the return of my passports I went to the office, only to find it locked during the office hours, advertised on her website. I have never received them from her and have no way in which to contact her now. I would never recommend her services to any one.

Mrs Oviatt took our money in February to extend our granddaughters (3 each) Canadian Passport visiting status and to assist with a citizenship application. We had trouble getting her to return our calls the first week, she does not keep her office hours as advertised ( no secretary and the door is locked ) and we are still trying to get a response from her and here it is 6/22/13. We had an appointment this morning ( 6/22/13, Saturday @ 0900) but she was a no show !

We hired this lawyer for an Immigration matter. She requested the money upfront, which we did, that was in February and we are still waiting for her to render the service, and it is now almost the end of May. What should have taken a couple of days to prepare is taking months, she also said she could prepare paperwork for an extention, then after the deadline had past, informed us that it could not be done, we paid for this service and nothing. She talks alot about other cases, but never about the case she was hired to take care of. She does return calls, I would never recommend this lawyer, still trying to get all our files back and some monetary satisfaction, which I am sure there will be none. Not happy at all
