Hire At Your Risk!

On March 25, 2026, Stephen Aslett addressed a letter to me informing me that he was appointed as an additional attorney to represent me on my appeal before the Court of Criminal Appeals. Familiar with Stephen's amicus brief he filed earlier in my case I was under the impression that his involvement... could only be a good thing. I would soon learn how wrong I was. Working alongside his buddy Brian Wice, Stephen refused to keep me reasonably informed about decisions they were making on my behalf. The brief he and Brian filed for me destroyed the first of two grounds the court had granted review for. When the State responded, they wholly adopted my attorney's argument, asserting my ground one error should be dismissed. The State went on to argue, for the first time in nearly 5 years of litigation, that my ground two error was unpreserved. Sometime after receiving the State's response, Stephen and Brian had a strong disagreement about how to proceed with my appeal. While Brian threw in the towel, Stephen chose to press forward by siding with the State. Conceding my ground two error was, in fact, unpreserved. Stephen cited fear of harm to his credibility if he did anything other than adopt the State's position. As a remedy, he suggested I should simply file a habeas corpus arguing my trial counsel was ineffective for not preserving the error. However, after review of my pretrial, trial, and appellate records, it became clear to me that Brian and Stephen demonstrated incompetence in their argument of my ground one error and that my ground two error was most certainly preserved. In the end, Brian placed full blame on Stephen for the case's disintegration. Brian claimed Stephen was lead counsel and was solely responsible for the briefs filed on my behalf. Meanwhile, Stephen confided in me, lamenting the fact that Brian only brought him on the case so he would do all the work and Brian could receive all the credit. Since bringing my objections to Stephen's attention, though, he has been totally unresponsive. In a previous call, Stephen bragged about taking a much-needed vacation, but I had no idea that meant our communication would cease completely. As a result, I've been forced to request that he, Brian, and my previously appointed counsel be removed from my case for ineffective assistance. How things will turn out, I'll soon see. Stephen Aslett boasted about how everybody knew he was "the real deal", but my experience with him has only resulted in a raw one. Hire him at your own risk. /s/ Jamin Stocker

Did the job I needed.

Completed court legal services in a timely, efficient manner and was informative. Mr. Aslett wrote an excellent and comprehensive court petition. I was looking for a very competent attorney with integrity in this area as close as possible to my former attorney, Steven "Rocket" Rosen, who passed away ...and was known to be excellent in court.

Great

Stephen is a great expungement lawyer and he helped me expunge my very challenge felony case. When all party except police department agreed, Stephen attended the hearing and talked to the judge to let the expungement granted. He saved me. Thank you.
