About Brian

Learn Brian’s areas of practice.

Brian Humphrey is an experienced and trial and appellate lawyer who represents both plaintiffs and defendants in serious personal injury, wrongful death, and commercial litigation matters in both state and federal court. He has been recognized on the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list every year since 2016, the Top 40 Under 40 list for The National Trial Lawyers, and Houston’s Top Lawyers in H Texas Magazine, and has been invited to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Brian has established a reputation as an expert in Texas civil procedure, and he is frequently consulted by other attorneys on a wide range of questions on both substantive and procedural law. He represents plaintiffs in a wide variety of personal injury and wrongful death matters, including maritime and industrial accidents, liquor liability, catastrophic workplace injuries, 18-wheeler wrecks, and other serious personal injury cases. Humphrey also represents both plaintiffs and defendants in “bet the company” business disputes, partnership and corporate disputes, employment cases, and other significant commercial litigation matters. Brian also has an active appellate practice. He has obtained successful outcomes on appeal for multiple clients, and has argued and briefed matters in the First and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals in Houston, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Fifth Circuit.

Outside the courtroom, Brian is active in the legal profession. He has served on several committees of the Houston Bar Association, and is Past Chair of the County Law Library Committee. He also serves on the Board of the Northeast Harris County Bar Association. He is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, which is open only to the top third of one percent of Texas lawyers, and serves on the Foundation’s Nominating Committee. He speaks at several CLE and other speaking engagements, including co-authoring the popular Supreme Court Update with Jay Jackson.

Brian is a native of Ashland, Kentucky, and was raised in Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2002, and in 2010 graduated cum laude from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to forming Humphrey Law PLLC, Brian practices for seven years at one of the oldest plaintiff's firms in Texas.

When not working, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, their young son Thomas, and their dog Sam.

Great Attorney
From the very onset, Brian Humphrey made no promises, yet worked very very hard and was very truthful and forthcoming with any and all aspects of my case. He communicated with me often and was very thorough. Mr. Humphrey and the law firm of Abraham Watkins went above and beyond all of my expectations. I would recommend this attorney and firm to anyone.

Small case, Big help
I had got injured in a car accident, and met with Brian to see if he would represent me. I had a small case, but I was treated like I was his only and favorite client. He won my case and kept me informed on every bit of progress. Every time I called he had the answer and is extremely knowledgeable. Just wanted to say thank you again.

Great experience!
Working with Brian Humphrey was a great choice! I didn't have to worry about a thing, I was kept informed through the whole process and never went without a concern or question being addressed. For a very stressful time in my life he was able to keep things as stress free as possible! I definitely recommend him!!
