Wonderful

We were in a very challenging spot, taking care of our nephew with major behavioral problems as legal guardians. Doctors advised us to call the state to put our nephew into the state conservatorship so additional facilities would be available to us. When we call, CPS threatened us with legal action..., tried to intimidate, and were the opposite of helpful. Greg came through for us in a big way, when we needed it most. He calmed us about how CPS tries to intimidate guardians, advised us on how to prepare for court, and represented us. He was fantastic.

4 years later, I am suffering from the poor work... I hired Greg to assist me in a custody case because he seemed to be a great choice at the time. I paid the retainer, and hired him. His team went to work immediately, and I was surprised at the quickness at the beginning. Greg suffered a knee... injury and had to have surgery. While I understood this, the 'attorney' put in charge was billing to my case and completely dissolved the retainer. This would not have been an issue, except when I was called into meet and discuss the drafted court order it was entirely wrong. The order was for a marriage/divorce, which we were never married. The draft was entirely wrong, and did not hit key points discussed via email. A 10 page document was created by myself containing incriminating evidence of the mother. This was not brought into court, and a review on this website says they brought it to their case.... I was adamant about my son's name, being I wanted him to have my last name. They left the mother's maiden name on there, but assured me it was two middle names and NOT two last names because it was not hyphenated. Now I am having to jump through hoops because the state of Texas is saying my son has two last names.... They mediated and took the mother's side with his name, and I footed the bill. Mediation was 25% the cost I paid... They never finished the name change, so I am having to do it myself.

Hello, Cameron. I'm through with pleasantries and turning the other cheek... especially when your facts are so wrong. Here is the language on your order from 2018.... Name of Child .... IT IS ORDERED that the child formerly known as LIAM OLIVER OHME shall v . ~ hereafter be named LIAM OLIVER S'o'\'IWC Lio.."Y"\ 0 l \Vc..y OY\VV\-e-~W\,¥-. . ~ You SIGNED AND AGREED to the order. Whatever problems you ran into later were your own damned fault. Obviously, you tried to do things on the cheap and failed. Your problem, not mine. I helped you get the custody order you wanted for your young child and, more importantly , I put you and the mother on a better path to being effective parents. You paid a mere $2,500 and continue to owe another $1,500. So, go figure yourself out before proceeding further.

Extremely disappointed in the lack of preparedness and professionalism through my case

I filed a case at the beginning of 2018 for a modification in custody of my daughter with Kendall Getz who worked at this firm. She did an acceptable job, but retired mid-way through my case after about 6-8 months working on it. Then it was passed to an attorney named Desiree, who worked on it for ma...ybe a couple of weeks, she quit, then finally taken over my Mr. Housewirth. Communication was awful, I couldn't get strait answers as to what was taking so long, or why I kept being billed with nothing moving forward. All and all i payed $8,822 before ever having a trial. That was for 1 hearing with Kendall, and a mediation. When the final trial date was approaching, I was given a time to be at court, I had to fly in for it since I was working out of town. Somewhere in Greg's office, the time that court was going to start was wrong, causing us all to miss it, and me having to fly back to town the following week for the last court date. I was out of pocket for 2 round trip flight and 2 days work, Greg refunded me $1000, then didn't send another bill for the final hearing. At the hearing, I had about 8 witnesses show up that were sent via Clio (their messaging software) 1 year prior to the court date. Not a single witness was listed in discovery, so they had to sit out in the hall and were not able to testify in my case. People that could have made a huge difference in my case, left unable to testify. Also there was about 400 pages of text messages that I also sent via Clio, as well as printed out copies I had delivered with tabs on each page marking what is pertinent to the case, guess what, these were not entered into discovery either and they didn't even know where they were. The day of court, Greg brought out about 10 pages of text not related to anything with the case. The big kicker here is the child support aspect. I'm a 1099 contractor. I have expenses to operate my company that come out of that income. My 1099 is quite a bit away from my actual income. Instead of sending in my tax return showing my actual income from my company, they sent in my 1099 by itself. Child support was figured right under the state max at an amount I can't afford and will have to spend more money with another attorney to go back with the proper documents that should have been submitted in the first place. All this to say, if you want to throw away money to not have your case presented with all the evidence/witnesses you provided them, this is the place to go. I've never been involved with such an incompetent law firm in my entire life. I'm now faced with the decision to pay a support I can't afford for any amount of time, or pay an attorney to file for a re-trial. Either way it's thousands of dollars more out of my pocket. The only positive that came from any of this was a schedule with visits for my child.

Would've had same result if I'd represented myself

Difficult to get calls or emails returned in timely manner. One of his secretaries tried to charge me more than the fee I'd agreed on with Mr Housewirth. I had him represent me during a hearing to try to get a b.s. cps finding overturned. He didn't seem to fight very hard for me. I could've repres...ented myself -- for free -- and gotten the exact same result. Maybe my case was too small.
