Family law cases must be handled delicately and with discretion due to the sensitive and private nature of each matter’s issues. Robinson & Henry Family Law Partner Jane Mapes harnesses her own personal challenges to approach every case with the empathy and compassion necessary to help her clients endure some of the worst times in their lives.
A lawyer for nearly 35 years, Jane is an accomplished litigator who exudes confidence in the courtroom. She also emanates the same self-assuredness during mediation to which she is no stranger. Jane has represented clients at hundreds of mediations rendering her an expert negotiator.
“I am committed to helping resolve their issues whether in the courtroom or the conference room,” said Jane.
Jane begins each matter by learning her client’s positions so she can develop a tailored plan of action that will achieve the best possible outcome for them. She makes sure to educate her clients about the family court system and set realistic expectations at the outset based on the facts of their case.
Clients will also quickly discover that Jane is a proponent of timely communication.
“I am accessible to my clients and will always provide updates and the information they need to make case-sensitive decisions and to direct them to a resolution of their cases,” said Jane.
In addition to making herself available to answer her clients’ questions and assist them with compiling the necessary documents for their matters, Jane is there to help them with the non-legal aspects that often crop up in family law matters.
“I am familiar with resources to assist with mental, emotional, and financial issues and can direct clients to other professionals that may be needed to assist in their representation,” she said.
The majority of Jane’s legal career has been devoted solely to family law. For the past 24 years, she has helped Texas families navigate matters such as divorce, child custody issues, various post-decree modifications, paternity, and adoption. Jane has tried cases in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Randall, and Wise Counties in Texas. Prior to moving her law practice to Texas, she represented clients in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties in Florida.
Jane is honored to be well-respected by her colleagues, other members of the Bar, and the judges before whom she appears on behalf of her clients.
“I truly love what I do every day,” she said.
