Michael A. Duran is the founder and Managing Attorney of The Duran Firm, PLLC. Mr. Duran graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with Military Honors in 1993. After graduating from the Academy, Michael served inside the NORAD command center and later F.E. Warren AFB in Wyoming where he attained the rank of Captain and served as a Minuteman III nuclear missile crew commander.
Michael attended law school at the University of Texas at Austin. In its 2016 survey, U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of Texas as the 15th-best law school in America and the top law school in the state of Texas. Michael graduated from UT Law in 2002.
Michael's experience in probate and guardianship matters began when he was selected to work directly for Judge Nikki DeShazo of the Dallas County Probate Court. While working for the Judge, Michael reviewed approximately 300 applications for probate and guardianship. Michael also wrote the book, so to speak: Michael created a manual to instruct future court clerks on the process of reviewing the various probate applications.
After completing his duties for Judge DeShazo, Michael formed The Duran Firm, PLLC and is now the Managing Member serving private clients. In addition to his private clients, Michael A. Duran has been appointed by all three Dallas County Probate Courts to serve as either an estate administrator, guardian of the person and/or estate, attorney ad litem for unknown heirs, or attorney ad litem for alleged incapacitated persons. Michael is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association and is active in the Probate and Estate Planning Section.
