A 5-star review can be suspect. But please read through and discover why I'm rating as I am. I had researched changing my name due to an unfortunate childhood and stigma attached to our family name. The cost was way out of my reach so I acquiesced to living life with a name that brought shame and... embarrassment...as well as hopelessness. I was chained to my "family name" even though I wasn't the one who had done anything wrong. I was simply "born" into the family. I resigned to live as quietly through life as humanly possible...never signing my last name unless I had too. Through a series of events I was referred to Ms. Shemesh and encouraged to inquire one more time about changing my name. Relunctantly, I agreed. I was met with peace-ful, joy and an air of hope. I thought..."good sales techinique:!!! Yet, after meeting I felt secure enough to choose to move forward, pursue changing my name and ridding myself of a stigma I didn't deserve. Yesterday, after a couple questions, the judge granted my name change. While some change names for various reasons (divorce, adoption or marriage) my name change signified the end of being a victim and taking the reigns of my life without having the constant "drag" of bearing a family name that carried such stigma. Now, I'm free to simply be who "I" am. I would like to thank MAS Law Firm and Amber Shemesh for hearing-me-out, understanding what I was trying to accomplish — then for being so upfront about what could and couldn't be done given a case like mine. Everything that happened throughout the process and during court was as described to me by Ms. Shemesh. Each question I had was answered within 24 hours by her staff and I was communicated with for each step of the process so I never felt left-out-in-the-cold during the process. Amber took over our case from a former, much less competent attorney.
