George Shake, a partner with Duffee + Eitzen, L.L.P., has been practicing law in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since graduating from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He practices family law and special education law. George received undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Business from the City University of New York. George received a Master’s degree in School Psychology from the University of North Texas and became licensed to practice school psychology.

He worked with families directly for several years, assessing children and helping parents and schools to create educational programs for those children. George developed specialties in ADHD and Autism and has participated in countless special education meetings, discipline meetings, and teacher conferences. He has held administrative positions in several local public schools. He has written policies and trained school personnel to comply with federal and state regulations for serving children with special needs. George has been working on behalf of individuals with disabilities for twenty-five years and training professionals throughout the Dallas area for fifteen years. George’s work in family law often involves families with children with disabilities.

Representation at its best!!!

Our son was wrongly accused of cheating at his University and was not permitted legal counsel for the in-house proceedings. George worked tirelessly to prepare our son to represent himself effectively. George was able to connect with our introverted son right away and immediately made him feel safe and secure in his abilities to handle this situation. We were faced with an extremely short deadline to prepare and George made himself available at every turn. He responded to calls and emails promptly - - even scheduling time on the weekend for Zoom meetings as needed. Our son was found innocent of these allegations and is able to continue his education seamlessly as a direct result of George's knowledge of the process, dedication to our case, and heart for a student in need of support. As a 30+ year member of the legal community, I would highly recommend George to anyone in need of counsel in his areas of expertise and have added him to our Firm's internal referral list as well. SAVED MY CHILD FROM 60 DAYS ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL AND KEEPT HIS RECORD CLEAN

Mr. Shake is truly wonderful! When he told me the school district attorney want it to proceed with the hearing and did not seem interested on working out an agreement or deal I was worried. When the hearing was done, I had a guess on why the school attorney did it, I believe the hearing was used to educate their school staff!! Especially since not once their school attorney seems to disagree with Mr. Shake. He was so polite, knowledgeable, smart and humble that it did not took long before I realized I was well represented and my kid was going to be fine. It took all the strength that I have not to hug the man, grab him, put him in my shoulders and take a victory lap in the school parking lot!!!!!!!

professional and caring attorney

Changing attorneys to George was one of the best decisions I made while in the midst of a highly contentious divorce (I only wish I switched sooner). George has a great combination of precision/attention to detail and a genuine caring heart. It is his authenticity and straight forward approach that made my divorce process a bit more bearable. He is very prompt with updates and clear on expectations. Sincere, articulate, dedicated attorney

We hired George for a difficult education matter. In the course of this matter, we had cause to consult with multiple attorneys. George was by far the best of them all. He gave clear directions and consel, kept all his promises and acted promptly at all times. George genuinely cared about representing our best interest. Our experience with other attorneys was that they were often more interested in financial gain from our matter than in helping us. George was different and unique in this respect. My lifeline to save a child

My daughter passed away when my granddaughter was 2 years old. Within less than 3 weeks of my daughter's passing, Mr Shake was able to get me awarded joint managing conservative along with son-in-law "just in case". When the baby was 5 the "just in case" happened and it became necessary to fight my ex-son-in law for custody of my grandchild. Mr Shake pulled off a brilliant strategy that awarded 50/50 custody to myself and my ex-husband without tons of further anguish, uncertainty or attorney fees. Now the child is stable, happy and can live a great life despite having mommy in heaven and daddy in "adult time out". Mr Shake is not only brilliant, the ultimate professional, yet most important he cares about the children he is ultimately out to protect.

My Savior in a horrible family law court case

Mr. Shake was found for me by my wife after a long string of horrible lawyers that dug us into the ground on a custody suit for my son. He has actually been our best advocate, he is smart and immediately saw a father who was caring and loved his son and was fighting against a lot of past legal issues that were brought on by poor legal representation. He was a new lawyer when we hired him but he is an experienced school psychologist and knew the ins and outs of dealing with school and psychology related issues. He advised us on new behavior and tactics which other attorneys were too lazy, uncaring or inept to advise. He actually cares about our case, as he has demonstrated both in word and deed many times. I would suggest a direction and he would listen and advise me. He did this for even the way we dealt with people concerning our case. He is still our lawyer and is still working on our case and now he is a member of a powerhouse law firm, and yet he is still a humble nice guy, who is still interested in helping us and helping my son. I could not write a higher recommendation for George without sounding like its fake, so Ill just say if you want a smart and caring guy, someone who will actually care about your case, hire him.

Great attorney!

I first hired George Shake to represent me with a school district. Mr. Shake is really helpful and teaches what Parents of Special Needs Children can and should expect. I also hired Mr. Shake to represent me in a divorce case.

Great advocate for your child.

George helped us against a very ugly school district. Before his services the school district was approaching my child's disability as a behavioral issue and were physically abusive. George came in and caught several violations of federal education law. My child is now in special ed. Receiving services she needs. I am very happy with George his caring a straight forward approach. He will help you where he can. He is not cheap but you will know cost upfront and he is worth every penny.

Impressed with this Lawyer

We just hired Mr. Shake and so far he has done everything he said he would do. He is friendly, efficient and responds to our emails in a timely manner . Not only is he giving good legal advice Mr. Shake is teaching us how to handle the opposing side in a better manner.
