Ok, where do I begin....I had just moved to Dallas from New York City a few months prior to getting pulled over by a police officer for driving over the speed limit.....just 10 over....Oops. Of course, living in NYC I didn't have to worry about this since I didn't drive at all in NYC, but not knowin...g how to handle this in TX and what I can actually say "NO" to, I was questioned about drinking and then all of a sudden I was asked to step out of my vehicle and perform a series of test along with a Breathalyzer Test. Well, it didn't go well after that. Skipping forward to several months later when I had my first hearing in Court, before Court Day, I researched several layers I can possibly work with. Carl Ceder had quite a bit of referrals and reviews that made me feel comfortable reaching out to him. The first person I spoke with was Sandy (Paralegal) for Carl's office. I have to say, she was pretty great to work with for the last couple of years. When I first spoke to hear...she was informative and basically told me how this was going to play out. Once again, I'll be honest, I didn't worry about it as much as I should have.....perhaps I just kept in mind that everything will work out and I'll be fine. Well, thanks to Carl, he made this a reality and I'm in a much better place than I was a month ago when I was worried I was going to be convicted of a DWI and I could possible face time and an absurd amount of surcharges and fees that I would have been dealing with for many years to come. On my first DWI charge, I hired a recommended attorney who charged me more than Mr. Ceder and did not have a staff or fight for a outcome that was satisfactory to me. After speaking with a few firms we decided to go with Carl. I could see that Carl was a competitor and from the very beginning, Carl was candid and honest. He didn’t make any bold promises yet gave us hope that we could prevail in our DWI case. During our initial meeting, I noticed right away that ...Carl was energetic and knowledgeable of the law. He gave me the impression he would not leave any stones unturned. In order to improve our chances, we opted to take our case to trial with a jury. Looking back, this was a crucial decision. From this case, I learned firsthand how closely state prosecutors work with judges. The prosecutor kept vital information from the jury. Testimony from Carl’s witnesses was often omitted. Although unfair, this was allowed by the judge. Fortunately, the jury could also see right through this strategy. I remember Carl stating this case would be a “dog fight,” and it was to the end. The prosecutorial team called on expert witnesses (which always favor the prosecution). Carl’s cross examination left a lasting impression on the jurors. Carl argued the expert witness testimony was not infallible. In other words, science is not always right because a scientist says it is. The jury got that. With a jury trial, our chance of winning improved significantly. After deliberating, the jurors found the state did not have sufficient evidence to convict and the DWI was dismissed. Carl and his staff returned every call and always kept us abreast of developments as they unfolded. Carl was brilliant in his cross-examination of witnesses and presentation of facts which lead to a decision in our favor. Choosing a good lawyer can be difficult as there are so many lawyers. I would not hesitate to hire Carl and his team to represent me in the future. Sometimes good people are wrongly accused. We were truly blessed to have Carl on our team and thank God for the outcome of this case.
