I was attending one of Debbie’s presentations about the importance of creating an Estate Plan when it dawned on me that I had not updated my Will after my marriage. I have three young children, one from a previous relationship, in a blended family and it’s important that they are protected if anything should happen to me.
Until I met Debbie, my future planning documents consisted of a “Will in a box” I had purchased long before getting married and having a family. Those types of Wills work for single individuals who don’t have any large possessions, but I no longer fit into that category. My wife and I realized it was time to hire a professional to help us map out our future.
Debbie made me realize the importance of creating a custom estate plan by describing situations that never crossed my mind. No family is a cookie-cutter case and their estate plan shouldn't be either. Her ability to communicate complicated issues and put them into perspective made the process much more pleasant.
Debbie takes a positive approach and knows how to address the sensitive topics. She is very professional but still relates to people and their concerns for the future. I would recommend Debbie to anyone who wants to work with a down-to-earth, family-focused attorney.

My partner and I were at the stage in our relationship where we wanted to be legally bound to one another. The only problem was that we weren’t sure what documents were needed to ensure we would have the power to make decisions for each other in the future.
We asked our friends if they could refer us to an attorney that had experience helping GLBT couples in Texas with their estate plan. Debbie Cunningham was highly recommended and when we met her, it was the icing on the cake. She was extremely personable and very knowledgeable about estate planning.
Planning for the future can sometimes feel morbid but Debbie made the situation much more comfortable. She was never demanding and always took the time to explain which documents we needed and why they were important to our plan. Debbie exceeded our expectations and made the estate planning process a positive experience.
I always take the time to refer Debbie to people who need help with their plans. I tell them, “She is the perfect person to help get your documents in order.”

Before my grandmother passed away, she contacted Debbie and hired her to update her will. We decided that it only made sense to hire Debbie when trying to probate Grandmother’s will. If Grandmother trusted Debbie, that was good enough for us.
The only thing we were worried about was the distance to her office. We live 250 miles away and weren't sure if that would be a problem. Debbie has been more than accommodating, making her services available to us and working around our schedules. We are very thankful for her flexibility.
We expected the probate for Grandmother’s will to be fairly routine, but we quickly found out that things were a bit more complicated in our case. Despite this, Debbie has handled all the complex details of the probate and has been very thorough and prepared. Again, she knows the court system and understands the complexities of our case.
The opposing counsel has been very contentious and combative. Debbie has kept us informed and calm, and had done a great job relieving our anxiety when things appeared to be going against us.
We have been impressed with the level of Debbie’s professionalism and will recommend her to anyone who needs help in with estate planning or handling probate for a will. If the need ever arises, we will definitely utilize her professional services again.
