I first contacted Dougs' office after I found out I had a warrant for probation violation. I was in transition back to Dallas county from Denton when I called to see about what I needed to do to end probation. I had failed an interlock test one morning on the way to work and school. I had used my wif...e's mouthwash since I was out, it was the Walmart brand so I didn't think about the alcohol. It had failed me with a .12! I didn't know how bad I failed, but I knew it would take more time for it to clear than we had. So I went ahead and let my wife drive, causing me to be automatically guilty. I decided to research decent lawyers here on Avvo after having an absolutely terrible experience with the Stanley law firm during my initial DWI. When I first called, I talked to Rebecca. What nailed me was that she seemed genuinely concerned about what happened to me. My first of many lawyers with the same firm the last time around never really listened. I went and had my school counselor that I had signed up for classes with that morning, write me a signed statement about how I was not intoxicated. This just wasn't enough to sway the probation officer. So Rebecca initially recommended I take a repeat victim impact panel and sign up for intensive outpatient therapy with her friend Holly Hunter. I was stubborn and didn't don't immediately because I felt like I was admitting guilt. Doug firmly re-recommended Rebecca had prior. So I finally went to the panel, turned out to be a lot more informative than my first in Denton. I also signed up with Holly Hunter. I also learned a lot from that experience as well! She was a great and interesting person that definitely left a mark on me. She too, has quite the reputation in the North Texas legal system. Once I had completed everything, I brought all my paperwork in. Doug got me right in at 9 and three minutes later, everything was dropped!!!! There was always good lines of communication between Doug, Rebecca, and I. Rebecca was always very quick to answer any question I had through the team website and by text. Even after hours she would respond asap! She loaded all of my documents into the system for me so Doug would have them on court day. So very pleased that I found them when I did. They truly went above and beyond my expectations of an attorney's office. They helped me get this giant heap of stress off of my back! I rec'd my 2nd DWI with child 10 years after my first. For the type of work I do, I could NOT have a felony charge on my record. I met with Doug and was impressed. He was very honest and explained this would be difficult but not impossible. He immediately had me attend AA meetings, attend repeat offe...nder program, attend A Court Class, and get a sober link which I breathed in 4 times a day. My case took a while to finally see a court room which made me stress more but worked in my favor because it allowed me the time to do all the things he asked me to do. I made sure I did it all too!! I finally met with the DA and went before the judge. Doug was not only able to have my felony charges reduced to a misdemeanor but I did not have to do any jail time. I was stopped at a red light with two blown out tires when a cop behind me turned on his lights. After stumbling through a field sobriety test, I was arrested. At the station I blew a .101, got charged with a Texas DWI, and spent the night in jail. A DWI on anyone’s record is an expensive ordea...l that lingers forever. In my case it would hit me especially hard because I’d worked my way up in corporate America, in regulatory compliance, and my very bright career future could be snuffed--or at least significantly dimmed with a DWI on my record. Worse than that, my family lives in Canada, where a DWI would make me criminally inadmissible. Ready for trial, I said nervously, “We gonna do this today?” He said, “ I’ve done my part....they’re going to dismiss your case.” Words can not describe my gratitude. I highly recommend the Wilder firm. I was very happy with them throughout the process (and especially the outcome!). I am writing this review with regards to not only my arrest and subsequent charge of DWI w/ child but to convey the journey that this incident has taken me on and to emphasize the caliber of attorney that Doug Wilder is. I made a very bad decision, one that I have had the opportunity to reflect ...on and realize the severity of what that decision and it’s possible consequences could not only have on me, but my family as well. I have always considered myself to be a responsible person, a person that takes charge and makes the right decision regardless of what others are telling him, yet on this particular night I failed in making that right decision…. when I should have had my wife drive, I instead chose to drive under the influence of alcohol and put my family in jeopardy. After my arrest, I have had the chance to go through a lot of feelings: humility, embarrassment, sorrow, regret and in the end, thankfulness. I have taken a moral inventory of where I was in my life and realize the things that are most precious and dear to me I put in harm’s way. Doug Wilder was right there with me through it all from the very beginning as I faced some very serious charges. Charges that could affect my life and my family forever. Doug was able to think "outside of the box" and truly have a compassionate look at what I was facing. Had it not been for Doug, I could have lost everything. I would recommend Doug to anyone facing a situation such as this as he took the time to think through my case, consider my options and come up with the best plan for me to address it. I initially faced felony charges with state jail time. I walked away with a misdemeanor. I can't thank you enough Doug Wilder.

Doug Wilder has been truly outstanding in his defense efforts in my case. His knowledge of the law and court room procedures is extensive and he was always honest with his advice. He always answered any questions that I had and explained the course of action he would take thoroughly, always ensuring ...me that although the circumstances were not the best that he would do everything humanly (and legally of course) possible to defend me in court. He was straightforward and never gave me false hope. Even if there was a difference of opinions he would gladly listen and give feedback. Setting up appointments with him was easy and he was always able to see me and talk to me in person when I needed it. During the entire time that it took for my case to be dismissed I was kept in the loop as to what was happening and Doug was there every step of the way.
