Great Lawyer

Handled my divorce with awesomeness! Nick David, answered phone calls promptly, very professional and 2 years after my case I still can call and ask for advice!

Excellent experience.

Nick, where's my public defender. He was there for me when I needed him. He took my calls and answered emails. I was faced woth was a pretty harsh charge, but with Nick's help I was able to plea Down. As he not knew I was not a disability he waved his fees along with recommendations to the judge that... they waive my court and probation fees. For this I'm extremely grateful to Nick David. I'm honored to have met him wish it was just on different circumstances.

Started out good, then did great, but unfortunately disappointed me in the end.

Mr. David accepted $2600 to take my case. He didn't consult with me before my first hearing and made a minor but understandable mistake that unfortunately resulted in the DA being able to force me to wear an ankle bracelet for 8 months @ $13/day. Afterwards Mr David did great, almost performing a ...miracle by getting me released from jail after he successfully argued that the county was violating my rights. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. Mr David recommended that I take a diversion as offered by the county, which I considered doing until the DA altered the terms at the last minute in a way that I felt would set me up for failure. After I refused the diversion, Mr David suddenly told me he wanted another $5000 for a "trial fee" that he had never mentioned before, and he gave me only 5 days to come up with it or else he would quit my case. He knew I had no way of getting that much money that fast because the County had gotten me fired from the job I had worked for the previous 10 years. After I refused the diversion and was unable to pay his surprise $5000 "trial fee", he quit my case right before the trial was supposed to start, saying that he "wasn't going to continue working the case for free" - conveniently forgetting that I had already paid him $2600 to represent me for my case. I give him a "Good" rating, because he performed well at first and he is definitely one of the better lawyers in the Topeka area. I don't fault him for wanting to get paid because he's worth it; but I am disappointed because he knew the DA had gotten me fired from my job and that made it difficult to pay him regularly. I still believe that we could have won the case if he had followed thru to the end of trial. So if you need a good lawyer and are willing/able to make steady payments, then I do recommend hiring Mr David's.
