I hired this attorney to handle my divorce proceedings. The attorney told me it would take 30 days at the court, then the judge would sign off on the paperwork, being as there was nothing contested. She assured me this should have been an easy, open and shut type case. I had to constantly call their office for updates, and rarely received return calls to messages I had left. After my paperwork was finally sent to the court for processing, I heard no information for two months. Over two months later, after watching casenet and seeing no action, I decided to start calling to get some answers. I called the office and was told they would check into it. The next day, I saw on casenet that an appearance had been filed on my behalf by the attorney. Progress at last. However, after hearing nothing from anyone over 30 days later, I decided once again to take action. I was going to be as annoying as possible until some progress was made on my case. I called the office on a Monday, and was assured that the Office Assistant would call the court house and get an update. She then told me she would call me back with an update. Magically, no updating call was ever made or received. I called again the next day and left a message, which went unreturned. I called Wednesday, and was told that, after sitting at the courthouse for over two months, my paperwork just hadn't been properly forwarded to the judge. Two days later, after finally being fed up enough to take action, I had a judgment. Had I not started making calls and asking questions, and made this attorney perform her duties, there's no telling how long my case would have remained open. I understand that some of the fault lies in the court clerk's dereliction of duty, however, it should have been my attorney's responsibility to advocate for me and check on the status of my case. The total incompetence of this attorney was evident in every single step of this process. Not only would I never use this attorney again, but I will make sure that everyone I know never makes the same mistake that I did.
