Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Mr. Kuhl attended Ralston High School where he was active in many sports, clubs and organizations. After high school, he graduated Cum Laude from Creighton University with a degree in Business Administration. After working in the banking industry for a year, Mr. Kuhl moved to Kansas City and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in May 2008. 

Prior to joining what is now the Law Office of Young & Kuhl, LLC as a family and divorce attorney in Kansas City, Mr. Kuhl worked as a law clerk for a Kansas City business litigation firm. He also worked as an intern and then as a law clerk for the Jackson County Circuit Court and was active in the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law’s Child and Family Services Clinic, where he represented clients in Family Law matters and received the clinic’s “Student of the Year” award in 2008. 

While in law school, Mr. Kuhl participated in a number of clubs and organizations including serving as President of the Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity, Co-President of the Family Law Society, and as a staff member for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Law Journal.

Mr. Kuhl is a frequent presenter on a variety of family law issues, and is an active member of the Family Law Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Having served two terms as the chair of the Domestic Relations committee, Mr. Kuhl has been elected as the President-Elect of the Family Law Section.

Additionally, Mr. Kuhl has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law and volunteers his time with the Volunteer Attorney Project, as an officer on the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, as well as a member on the Board of Directors for MARCH mediation.

Mr. Kuhl, like all members of his firm, has dedicated his practice to Family Law and represents people in dissolutions of marriage (divorce), modification of custody and child support actions, establishment of child support actions, adoption matters, paternity actions, and guardianship proceedings.

Having completed the Guardian ad Litem and advanced Guardian ad Litem trainings, Mr. Kuhl serves as a Guardian ad Litem in multiple counties, including Jackson, Cass and Clay. In addition, Mr. Kuhl serves as a mediator as well as a Special Master.

Honest, Passionate, and Caring Attorney with the Highest Integrity!

In one of the most difficult times in your life, choosing a professional who you know has your back and will protect you and your children can give you a great peace of mind. There is no other Attorney I would trust as completely as I do Mr Kuhl. There is no price you can put on the guidance Abe will provide. My divorce was filled with lies, misrepresentation, false accusations, and attacks from my ex. It was a constant attack on me and my character and our children. Mr Kuhl continued to reinforce to me that the best course of action is to just maintain my own integrity and my composure and all the attacks will be brought to light for the complete lies and misrepresentation they actually were. He was right!!! Without Abe in my corner, I am quite certain things would not have worked out in the manner they did. And for that, I will always be in his debt and he has gained a lifetime of my respect. If I could give more than 5 stars, he would have gotten everyone of them!!

Best lawyer I've ever had to work with

Mr Kuhl was very professional at all times he helped us with a 3rd party custody case regarding our grand children. Because of his expertise we were able to get 3rd party custody of our grandchildren. He also, Pro Bono, helped me get guardianship of my oldest grandson. I would highly recommend Mr. Kuhl to anyone needing a highly skilled exceptional lawyer.

Compassionate Attorney

Divorce is never an easy decision to make, once it was clear this was the right decision, I proceeded to file. There was one person that was put in my life and that wonderful human being was, Abraham Kuhl and his fabulous assistant Laura B. Going through the divorce process with Mr. Kuhl & Ms. Laura by my side every step of the way made this unfortunate situation manageable. There were many ups and downs and any time I had a question, big or small, I could always count on them to be there at all times. They not only showed me grace, encouragement, and consistency. I didn't ever feel like a "client", but rather a friend in need of support. For this, I will highly recommend them to anyone who's only option is divorce. I am beyond blessed for their friendship. He handled a divorce case for me. Everything started out very amicably, but a ways into the process my now ex-wife decided to make things difficult. He smoothly switched gears for the change in the situation. He clearly explained everything each step through the process. In a tough and sad situation, he was a great help!

Great Lawyer

After muddling through several lawyers for my child support case I finally found Abe. My ex was in the 6 figures behind on child support and kept taking me back to court for ridiculous things. Once I retained Abe he took hold of the case and I saw immediate results. I live out of state but Abe is always available by phone or email to answer all my questions and he did not nickel and dime me. My ex is quickly getting caught up on the child support and he quickly got the message that I now have true representation so he has stopped taking me back to court for frivolous issues. I honestly cannot leave a good enough review for Abe.

Great Service!!

From the time I consulted and retained him, Abe was very empathetic to my situation in every sense possible. He actively listened to what I wanted to accomplish. He was very up front and prepared for many different possible scenarios. It can be tough cuz you never know how the other party is going to come at you but he was prepared for everything and told me our plan of attack in every instance (making sure I was ok with his strategies). He FULLY prepared me for mediation and because of that I went in knowing my stuff citing other cases as reference points and came out getting pretty much everything I wanted. Abe could've very easily not prepared me and charged me so much more to go to trial but he isn't about the money. Yes, his rates are higher than some but you get what you pay for. Experience, knowledge and EMPATHY!! This is one of those bitter-sweet moments when I hope I don't have to use his services again but know the first place I will go if I do!! Thanks Abe!

Insight and integrity

During 2009-2011 Abe represented me in a long and protracted Legal Speration/Divorce and a year later in a Modification. Family law is emotional charged, especially when children are involved. Adding to that the financial cost, it is probably one of the most difficult times in a persons life. Throughout the almost 3 year attorney/client relationship I learned to trust Abe more and more, especially during delays and disappointments. Sometimes I didn't want to hear certain facts but I Always trusted his judgement and integrity. Our one goal was always laser focused; best interest of the children. Abe consistently returned calls and emails promptly as did his office staff. Our relationship grew from attorney/client to one of mutual respect and friendship. I highly recommend Abe Kuhl.

Abe represented me throughout a very difficult litigation. His knowledge of the law proved absolutely invaluable in my case. He was always prepared, and went through great lengths to understand the complexity of my situation. Because of this great work ethic he was abled to quickly react when unexpected things came our way. At all times during the litigation I felt that Abe was invested in helping me and my family. That is not to say that this was an easy road. I had to make very tough decisions. Abe went out of his way to prepare me for each step.
