I limit my practice exclusively to family law, including pre-decree and post-decree matters regarding divorce, legal separation, paternity, domestic violence and orders of protection, property division, child support, maintenance, allocation of parenting time, allocation of parental responsibilities, allocation of college expenses, relocation, prenuptial agreements, and postnuptial agreements.

I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Political Science and Gender and Women's Studies, where I received the University Fellowship, Dean's Scholar Award, and Provost's Award for Graduate Research.  I earned my J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law with a focus on Family Law, where I received CALI awards for the highest grade in Intensive Trial Advocacy, Legal Writing IV, and Mediation.

She was kind, courteous, quick and to the point. I had great experience with Jennifer despite the less than ideal situation I was dealing with. I'm keeping her info in case yje future requires it. I wouldn't go with anyone else.

Compassionate and thorough
Was referred to Jennifer by a colleague of hers. During my consultation I was comforted and given level headed fair advice along with a healthy dose of both reality, and hope. It was almost therapeutic in of itself. Even though I have yet to need to make use of Jennifers services she provided me with contact info for a therapist who could help me in the interim.

You can tell she’s not a Mom
If you’re reading this because you were assigned Jennifer Lavin, it’s too late. Here is one of the worst people you’ll ever had to deal with. She doesn’t do her job and charges thousands of dollars in return. She threatened to make parenting time suggestions that “would not be in my favor” to the judge, ignored letters from my sons primary care Dr regarding his health and concerns with his negligent daycare. She ignored an incident where my sons mother was pulled over smoking weed with him in the car. The police pulled her over, took my son and called me to pick him up. Even after endangering his saftey, she suggested parenting time in her favor. Another incident where his mother assaulted me in my house while I was holding my son was ignored and actually turned around and used against me. My son now sleeps on a couch in his moms living room per the suggestion of Jennifer Lavin. I can’t wait for all these bad reviews and karma to catch up with her. Avoid this lady if you care about your children.

Avoid at all cost!
I would avoid her if possible. To speak on the behave children you would think she talked to the kids, no! 22 most in 2 years and she wants to be paid every month. My daughters reached out to her and she ignored under aged girl that she represented. Under her watch my child wanted to commit suicide, ran away from home, and committed self-harm to herself. She refused to communicate with the judge about the child's safety, she would leave the child's care and wellbeing out of the conversation with the judge. I would absolute never recommend her to anyone who love their children.

Horrible horrible lawyer. Made 0 headway in 2 years. Everything revolves around my ex because he’s a fireman. This guy belittles and emotionally abuses me, even with proof nothing was done.
