Jeremy Louis Geller

About me

Jeremy L. Geller is Partner at Trapp & Geller.   He concentrates his practice on automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice and serious personal injury matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Geller graduated from the University of Wisconsin and the John Marshall Law School where he was president of the Decalogue Society and was a Representative with the Sports Law Society and the Student Council. Mr. Geller is married and lives in the downtown area with his wife, Stacy, a teacher.

Jeremy was recently voted as an Illinois SuperLawyers Rising Star, which is an honor earned by less than 5% of Illinois Attorneys.   He was recently elected to the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors where he will serve a three year term.    He was also recently named as a named Partner at Trapp & Geller.

Jeremy has achieved millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of his clients and their families.   Some of his results are as follows:

Jeremy achieved a settlement on behalf of a client who was severely injured at a local music venue.

A young mason was working at a construction site when a concrete wall fell and collapsed causing serious injuries.   Jeremy's client suffered a torn meniscus in his knee and a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder and required surgery.   Jeremy was able to establish that the General Contractor should have had additional fall protection and additional support for the wall.   The case settled for $1,100,000.00 in Kane County.

Jeremy achieved a $1,000,000.00 settlement on behalf of a Metra Carman who was injured while pulling a tarp on the job.   In this FELA case, the Carman injured his lower back and required a disc replacement surgery.   Metra denied any liability and denied that the worker was injured.   Metra failed to offer any money for 3 years the case was prepared for trial. The case settled 4 days before trial was set to begin.

Confidental Settlement

Jeremy was successful in achieving a confidential settlement on behalf of the family of a 13-year old boy who was killed as a result of negligence by a local municipality and a local landscaping company. The boy was fatally injured when he was riding a wheelchair through an open field and caused to fall and suffer catastrophic injuries from a concealed hole in the ground.

Mr. Geller proceeded to trial against the City of Chicago where a Chicago Police Officer collided head-on with our client resulting in serious back injuries. The City and Police Officer vigorously denied that the accident was their fault and never offered a penny to settle the case. At trial, Mr. Geller obtained an award of nearly one million dollars for his client.

Jeremy acheived a settlement for a laborer who was injured at a Train Derailment when he was impaled by a metal pole.  The client suffered serious abdominal injuries.

Jeremy settled a case for $875,000.00 on behalf of a construction worker who was injured when he fell from a ladder at a construction site.  The ladder was only 4 feet tall.   The injured client did not seek any medical treatment for more than a month after the fall.   The case settled a month before the trial.

$800,000Jeremy achieved a $800,000 settlement for a woman who slipped an fell on a cement parking barrier that was sitting in the middle of a city sidewalk.  An XSport gym owned the barrier and investigations revealed that the barrier was frequently being pushed by cars parking at the gym into the sidewalk.   The woman tripped over the barrier injuring her shoulders and neck.  The settlement will pay the woman and her family a structured payout for the remainder of her life.

Jeremy successfully negotiated a settlement of $500,000.00 on behalf of a woman who slipped and fell on ice on driveway in DuPage County.   The woman suffered a fracture to her ankle and required surgery.  Even though it had snowed and rained for 4 straight days before the accident, Jeremy was able to establish that the ice was an "unnatural accumulation" which caused the injury.   This case settled for the insurance policy limits without a lawsuit even being filed.

Jeremy received a $350,000.00 verdict on behalf of a 55 year old woman who injured her knee as she was walking on a city sidewalk and fell into a hole on Rush's property which was concealed by trash and vegetation.   Despite there being no written complaints about the hole, Jeremy was able to establish that Rush knew about the hole on their property and that they were responsible.  Rush denied the woman was injured and only offered $8000 to settle the case.   This verdict was reported on the front page of the Jury Verdict Reporter

Jeremy's was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a drunk driver with more than double the legal limit.  The drunk driver had the minimum amount of insurance coverage allowed by law.  Jeremy was able to establish liability on a semi-truck driver, and was able to recover a significant settlement for his client who suffered a herniated disc in his neck, even though liability was heavily disputed.

In another case, Mr. Geller achieved a significant settlement on behalf of the family of an elderly woman who was dropped by nurses at a nursing home causing her to break her hip and requiring surgery.
